My honest opinion on Meade Skelton, the musician...

Okay, so meandering through a whole bunch of threads on this poor joke of a musician from Richmond, I had to check see for myself.

My honest opinion in hearing dozens of local bands in my time:

Vocally: This is his strongest suit. He has strong, clear resonant voice, that is pleasant. With work on his technique, he could certainly improve this instrument. He can implement falsetto voice without sounding like a member of the Bee Gees. He has a decent range as well. It is also unique and quite distinctive- which honestly, is pretty rare.

Instrumentally: Very sound. Not the best keyboard player, but certainly well enough to accompany his style. He can do quite a bit of appegios in his right hand while his left is equally good at playing a counter melody. He does quite a few advanced things on the keyboard even in simple songs that most people don't notice. But musicians will notice. His guitar playing is moderate at best, with just hum and strum method. He hasn't advanced much here. All instruments are decent, but do not have the same level as his singing ability.

Songwriting: IMO, this is the weak link. Having heard both is original songs as well as covers... he should stick to doing covers. Although some of his original songs can be interesting and have quirky personality to them, none of them are truly marketable to the general public. "Sweet Tea" sounds like a commercial for Luziane and/or Lipton, and don't get me started on his dreadful ditties such as "Nicole, Will You Marry Me"?

Okay, so my honest opinion is he is a good singer and should stick to doing covers- primarily from the 1960's or 70s Era . He could market himself as a wedding singer, or a performer at Branson.

Meade is a performer. When Meade flexes his mighty moobs, the crowds go wild. Meade should simply play recorded music and lip sync while flexing his moobs. He could fill stadiums by doing that.

Meade is pretending to be Ned Hepburn who gave him a long forgotten write up in the liberal blog 'Death and Taxes'.

Other than FFXU, that is the best buzz he has ever gotten on the internet.
The fact he needs to trot that out every time he insists he has accomplished something just shows how little he has actually accomplished.

A wedding perhaps for couples on a budget.

Go to Branson, Austin, or Nashville. There are too many musicians/singers to count. And 95% or more of them have talent. There is a reason Meade has never performed in Nashville, Austin, Branson. I heard he went once to somewhere near Nashville, and he never returned.

Go to youtube and search for Nashville Street Performer. You will find 100s with more talent than Meade

God has answered our prayers on that.
Heart attack or complications from type-2 diabetes will completely eradicate that malformed specimen soon enough.
