Prince George’s County officer killed trying to aid woman in domestic disturbance, county says

A Prince George’s County police officer was shot dead Wednesday trying to help a woman threatened in a domestic situation in the Brandywine area, county police announced.
The suspect who shot the officer was killed by responding police, county police said on its Twitter account.
The officer killed was off-duty and been summoned by a neighbor seeking help, according to a law enforcement official.
County police officials have said they intend to release additional information near the scene in the 15000 block of Chadsey Lane near Chadds Ford Drove.
Federal agents also are on the scene to assist the county, a spokeswoman for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said.
Roads in the area, including Indian Head Highway are closed.
