Thon is an event, Thon is a party, Thon is a year-long fund raising campaign and Thon has become a way of life for many kids that choose to go to Penn State to further their education. It is also the largest student run philanthropic organization in the world. Since its inception in 1973 it has raised $136 million to support pediatric cancer research for the Penn State Children's Hospital and financially assist the families of children that has pediatric cancer.
