William Moreno's roommate and accomplice Christopher J. Tator aka Kris Askins served two years in prison for felony child molestation. HIV is very common in prison populations and infected felons do not stop to don a condom. Furthermore it is a prison tradition that child molesters are targeted for rape and abuse by the older hardened felons. Tator was young and soft when he entered prison and was most likely seen as prime target for buggery. It is quite possible Tator Tots picked up the HIV virus during his incarceration.
When Tator was released from prison, he began dating Monique, who was also involved with William. Lizzie has not disclosed the full details of Chris and William's relationship, except that they occasionally slept in the same bed.
When the trio set up housekeeping in Fairfax they lived in very unsanitary conditions. In one of his "art works" William Moreno famously proclaimed his predilection for urinating on the floor and not cleaning it up. Yes. That's the minimum amount of time for possession of CP for a sex offender.
