Did the Parkland High School have adequate security?

Was access to the Parkland High School restricted or could anyone walk into the school and make it a shooting gallery? News reports are vague about its security and it seemed that Cruz had no problem getting into the school. As a side note, FCPS has restricted access to schools since about 2014.

I think the ROTC there had some fake wooden rifles in the closet someplace.
