They said that the kid had a propensity of first dipping his gum in citric acid (ie, Orange Juice) before chewing on it. There was a packet of some liquid explosive mix (Nitroglycerin?) that was opened next to the citrus, and some wonder if he might have confused the two. I'm wondering if he wasn't simply trying to create some new candy type (Some type of gum that resembles those "Pop Rocks").
