Wow. Law enforcement broke up a terrorist plot? If it were Bush, he would have handled it by bombing NoVA.

We might as well get used to these kind of stories involving local terrorist cells. The FBI has quietly broken up many cells in this area, but there are many more that still exist. Sometimes its difficult to get enough evidence to get convictions, so unfortunately we kinda have to wait until they do something really stupid or bad.

A few years back, some folks I knew accidently uncovered a cell near Middleburg. Apparently they were preparing for something big.

How is 5 men traveling overseas a "terrorist plot"? :)

Caught them "red-handed" did they? They were in Pakistan - and if you read the story it is believed they might have been looking to do something with terror groups overseas, but there was little in the article that noted they were doing anything "nefarious" here in the US.

Quote

...
Authorities believe their intent was to wage jihad overseas rather than with terrorist acts in the United States, the official said, but "there is still a lot of uncertainty about what they were up to."

A Pakistani official said the men arrived in Karachi on November 30 and went on to Lahore and then Sargodha, where they were arrested Wednesday, the official said. The arrests came at the behest of local police. Preliminary investigations are ongoing, the official said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said in a statement Wednesday it was assisting in the investigation of "five Muslim young men from Virginia who left the country recently under mysterious circumstances."
...

CAIR was involved? This story is starting to sound like a setup. It doesn't appear there has been any evidence released of anything, other than one of the guys made a "disturbing video" and then they were arrested in Pakistan. I guess it made a good PR moment hmm?

As long as the bombing was confined to Woodbridge, Manassas and Springfield I'd be good with it.

Sorry, my response was to WTL jumping in with his "terrorist plot" comment. Lately he has been taking up some of the slack on left-leaning political commentary/talking points.

There was a time when parents turning in their children..and children turning in their parents was the fruit of godless totalitarian governments.

least we forget many of the 9/11 attackers held VA drivers licenses issued by the DMV at Four Mile Run.
