"5 injured after ski lift malfunctions at Pennsylvania resort"

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/16/5-injured-after-ski-lift-malfunctions-at-pennsylvania-resort.html

"A ski lift malfunctioned at a resort in central Pennsylvania Saturday, stranding 50 to 100 skiers and injuring five of them.

Emergency crews responded around 10:30 a.m. to the Tussey Mountain ski resort in Harris Township to lower skiers from the lift with ropes and transport the injured to the hospital.

Grew up on the left coast and in Colorado. I always LOL at what wimpy southerner's call 'skiing'. Dropping 200 feet at a one degree angle, and terrified for their lives.

I saw one of these shitheads last winter up at Telluride. Fucking southern trumptard, MAGA cap and all, pissed his pants on the chair lift half way up the slope. His ski buddy, apparently another carolinian, was apperntly back at the hotel with freakin' altitude sickness.

Funny stuff. I grew up skiing NJ NY and New England in bitter cold on blue ice most of the time at night. Id hone my edges to be able to cut raw meat. I raced in New England in College never making it out west till I was 30. When I got there it was the easiest skiing I had encountered ever. Id skied the east from ages 7-30 and never skied even one day in the east as easy as the Rockies. Faggots out there would get a wind swept patch of maybe 3 square meters on a couple trails and they would say ' its really icy today' Good skiers on perfect packed powder or even deep powder but couldnt stand up on ice let alone ski it.

If you can ski in the east you can ski anywhere in the world. All that said the size and steepness of anything below NY is just sad.

So what are you doing on the east coast? Desperate for a job? They have fast food in Colorado and Idaho. Did mommie and daddie bring you here?

I grew up racing on the East Coast. I went to college in Utah and tunny thing was I saw the same faces racing there. Many of the best racers come from the East. When you live on a "mountain" with only 1000' or even 500' of vertical drop you run a lot of gates to make it interesting. Eastern skiers know how to turn because the trail might be only 20' wide. Western skiers never even learn to carve a turn.

they either hired hispanics or potheads to maintain the lifts i bet

no way several chairs can touch each other unless the bolts for all of them were removed and re-fastened "for maintenance" (ex new cable) and not installed by someone qualified OR more likely in this case: there was a jam on the tower (possibly by a twisted failed cable) and when the first few/several hit the the clamps slid along the wire until the next chair arrived - like an accordian (maybe they were avoiding cost of new cable, or some bad mechanic nicked the cable and didn't want to be fired reporting it - or maybe the lazy bastards just never oiled the stuff)

skiing is dying out because illegal aliens (ie, 1/2 of fairfax) don't do it

for the rest of (us): it's too far. the prices have nearly quadrupled for tickets, more than doubled for gas. but the TRAFFIC is terrible - in fairfax what used to take 1/2 hr (getting into dc) is more likely an hour today. for a drive to a ski slope it's no different all said and done.

me i don't care i'm not allowed to ski anyhow, any more injuries and i may not be able to work

THE CABLE GUY IS HERE!

having worked in several kinds of businesses i can assure you there is a possibility: the cable company needed to sell more cable and either nicked the fucking thing or paid a mexican to do the same

that's how illegal aliens get work: they spend all day wrecking their parent company for fraudulent repairs. that's why they all want government jobs: because the government never closes down for profit loss

very true the toughest racers I knew ran the same course of maybe 300 vertical over and over and over and over from the time they were in elementary school on. We would walk up the course some practices and the ice ruts would get to be almost knee deep - pure ice. Im sure there are great skiers all over the place but in general the ice on the East forces you to set your edges very very hard.

The west is like skiing on a pillow as wide as the ocean. Skiers from the west going to Stowe to ski the 30 foot wide double diamond moguls would be lucky to get down alive.
