Bitcoin kind of acts like gold in the sense that it is not necessarily bound by global currency and economic trends.

No matter what they claim their currency is worth, if you can't cash out you really have 0$. I don't touch cryptocurrencies, not saying you guys shouldn't or should but if it's not backed by the government you're taking a risk.

Bitcoin depends on math remaining the same, with no new algorithms/short-cuts being discovered in the near future. It is NOT like gold, which is a tangible asset. Yes, a big strike of gold someplace could greatly affect the price, but there would always be some use for its other properties even if the rarity was no longer there.

I think there's a better chance of great advances in mathematics than a world altering gold strike.

So why would a rational investor interested in value preservation as well as appreciation or income buy it? There is nothing standing behind it.

look for the lesser cryptos to tank this week then bitcoin will drop 50% by xmas.
