Absolutely correct, and that's why I placed "Elected" in quotations, because I'm simply conveying the fact that he did attain power in a legal manner. Sure, it was shady as hell, but it was legal (He did run in Elections prior to his appointment as well).

It's not a ridiculous comparison, it's simply a vague one. Obviously it's hard to compare just about anyone alive to Hitler in an honest to God manner, because he caused unconceivable amounts of destruction and horror, but certain people do share specific aspects with him. Chavez has completely taken control of his Media outlets, national politics, and he absolutely loves to propagate military build-ups through the use of the United States and other entities as an "Anti-Venezuelan" boogeyman. He is also an insane individual, and I have no doubt that if he had the power to run free and dominate as Hitler did, he would nearly be capable of causing relatively massive amounts of worldwide destruction as well (Along with his "Axis" buddies Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong Il, etc.).

Yes, and Iran held an election where they re-elected their current leader. Of course the election was free, and no form of corruption or coercion was used in collecting and tallying votes.
