Emirates Airlines new ad campaign...wtf?

So, throughout Thursday Night Football tonight, Emirates has been running this ad. The substance of which is..."Emirates...connecting the world, through Dubai."

Hub airlines, those that travellers must always fly in or out of the same city, are nothing new. Here's the part I don't understand though...

If I live in DC and I want to go to Sao Paulo...I'm not flying Emirates because their ONLY route from DC to Sao Paulo includes a stop in Dubai. So, why spend all this money to produce this ad and place this ad only to mistarget it to Americans watching football?

If all of your flights go in and out of Dubai, a city not well served by other airlines direct from the US...then shouldn't your mestage to an American audience be something like, "More flights to Dubai...everyday."?
