on the Kansas gaffe (he said 10000 people died when he meant to say at least 10 people died.

Obama said "There are going to be times when I get tired," he said. "There are going to be times when I get weary. There are going to be times when I make mistakes."

I guess the difference is that Obama is a good public speaker - he is human and makes mistakes. I dont think people minded W making basic mistakes - that is human. It was the fact that he often seemed lost or ignorant of an array of issues and subjects.

I dont think Bush is or was stupid but Obama is clearly a very bright guy.

As to the name calling - both sides do it.

I pretty much agree with everything you said. I don't believe that President Bush was "dumb" by any stretch of the imagination, but I do admit that he wasn't the best speaker. On the other hand, just because President Obama can master certain oratory, I don't truly believe that it makes him brilliant or wise.

I think Obama runs into trouble without his teleprompter. Which, ironically, is where Bush ran into trouble too, but for some reason he kept going off the teleprompter.

But, he's very good at moving his head from left to right as he reads the teleprompter. He never looks directly at the people.

Yeah, Bush was more authentic.

Yeah, I was just comparing that again yesterday when they showed a clip of President Bush speaking recently, right before they displayed a clip of President Obama doing the same. I didn't realize it all that much until now, but the Teleprompter head waving is actually quite off-putting, and it makes President Obama appear much "colder" when delivering his speeches. When President Bush joked for instance, he looked directly at people, and he actually cracked a smile and laughed a little. I have yet to even see President Obama express emotions. Being able to openly express your words is as crucial, if not more so, than how you pronounce and formulate them.
