Trump just increased PA ACA premium by 30% for 2018
Posted by: trump sucks ()
Date: October 17, 2017 11:16AM

Obamacare health insurance premiums in Pennsylvania will jump an average 30.6 percent in 2018, nearly four times the increase that had been anticipated before cost-sharing reductions for the coverage were scrapped last week.

The original projection had been for an average 7.6 percent rate increase for individual health insurance plans purchased through the Affordable Care Act’s government exchange.

Acting Insurance Commissioner Jessica Altman said she regretted Monday’s news.

“It is with great regret that I must announce approved rates that are substantially higher than what companies initially requested,” Ms. Altman said in a prepared statement.

“This is not the situation that I hoped we would be in, but due to President Trump’s refusal to make cost-sharing reduction payments for 2018 and Congress’ inaction to appropriate funds, it is the reality that state regulators must face and the reason rate increases will be higher than they should be across the country.”

More than half of Pennsylvania’s Affordable Care Act participants received cost-sharing reductions, which totaled $214 million in 2016 or an average of $949 per enrollee, according to Antoinette Kraus, director of Pennsylvania Health Access Network, a Philadelphia-based advocacy group.

Of course the prices are going to increase. Trump gave the insurance companies a blank check now.

Trump should of just said "I'm writing a check to all the major insurance companies."

Obama was the one who wrote the checks to the evil big insurance companies.

Trump just stopped payment on them.

Even though this is fake news I hope this does happen. The point of the EO was to restore the rule of law, stop lining the pockets of insurance corporations and destroy Obamacare so that the American people can have choices.

Dumb ass almost forgot to sign it again. He was eager to get back to his golf course.

Obamacare was only sustainable for the past few years because the government was funnelling billions of dollars to insurance companies, outside of the scope of the ACA statute, after forcing them to cover preexisting conditions (meaning that they weren't really selling "insurance," but instead a plan to make healthcare payments for you even if you bought the insurance AFTER getting sick).

Even WITH those subsidies, the health plans have been increasing their costs DRAMATICALLY over the past few years AND many insurers are jumping ship. Now, we learn that without those illegal subsidies to the insurers, the rates will go up even more.

Tell me again how Obamacare is sustainable?

The CSR subsidies don't affect poor people.

Those above 250% of poverty level who pay their own premiums vs those below that level who receive Federal subsidies.

These were backroom payments to BIG INSURANCE to artificially keep prices lower on the exchanges in an attempt to make them appear more "affordable."

The same Americans who pay the taxes which funded the backroom payments to BIG INSURANCE to artificially keep prices lower on the exchanges in an attempt to make them appear more "affordable."

Not at all, he just increased the money to be given to Pennsylvania as block grants to pay for that portion of the health care insurance fees that wpuld go up.
HOWEVER, PENNSYLVANIA HAS A HORRIBLE TRACK RECORD WHEN IT COMES TO PASSING ON ANY SUCH TAX RELIEF TO THEIR CONSTITUENTS--THEY PREFER TO KEEP IT ALL TO LINE THEIR OWN POLITICIAN-LINED POCKETS. So, maybe it is time you stopped voting for Dems with their hands in the state treasury all the time if you would rather have the state balance its budget with the taxes it takes in and have some left over to invest in the healthcare of its citizens.

By the way, I grew up in Pennsylvania. I know what was done that forced a lot of small farmers out of business up there. Pennsylvania's public corruption rate is among the highest in the nation.

Don't know what you're talking about because it just isn't happening.

What has happened is that president Trump stopped the illegal Hussein Obama EO of paying off billions in tax payers money to his buddies insurance corporations.

A president doing his job. Huh, imagine that.

Actually those pay offs were written by republicans in compromise to get the ACA passed.

Are starting to see the reasons why republicans don't want to repeal Obamacare? Why republicans put the vote off until 2018?

Nice show by the republicans however. A lot of conservatives were really fooled.

Unfortunately most all ceo`s make a great sum of money
Far more than those in other countries

If we have to have a tax system/rate that matches other countries why not match the ceo pay rate?

And I have no problem with people being wealthy

Complete bullshit.

The CSR payments as implemented aren't in the law. It was done by Obama independent of the law. That's the whole problem. They took a section of the law never intended for this purpose and then justified it by administrative action in order to make premium costs appear lower than they actually would be so that the rates would be seen as being more "affordable."

If you really want to know the full background on these, which I know that you don't since you're just making up shit, here are the full facts re the origin:

Guess many still love the obamao style of government. You have a family you are trying to take care of for the next 20 years until you can get the kids through school, and living here costs you a hefty penny as you work to keep your job so you can take care of your family for the next 20 years.

Now I know a whole island called Peurto Rico that is devastated by 2 hurricanes and no one there knows what to do or how to take charge because it is a welfare state with expertise in drug running and corruption of public funding and investments. So I think "I" as the gov't here will take all of your earnings for the next 20 years and send it to those people who, unlike those in Texas, just want to lie around complaining that no one has come in to rebuild their houses and clean up the mess with the infrastructure that they created themselves by passing all that investment money around to their elites to line their pockets with.

What do you bet that there is not an elite millionaire left on that island--they all hopped their jets and escaped before the hurricanes hit. And their "acting elite" have placed so many impediments in the way of people actually receiving aid there that the only people who have been treated by the medical staff on that huge Red Cross ship are US nationals working at gobernment installations there in the military and arecibo, etc.

And By the way, I would bet you would not work for no pay cleaning up the island and rebuilding if you had the engineering smarts to be able to do it, but I would hear you complaining about all your money disappearing into a bottomless money pit if you were living in the poorhouse so your work subsidized them.

In Texas, everybody was out there pitching in. They didn't get paid for volunteering.

In Puerto Rico they are hanging around their destroyed houses begging for someone to do come in and do all the work for them. Not many island volunteers there (except those sent by the USG and others coming in from the US)? That is the end result of socialism and welfare states. And no one wants to man the chain saws to clear the roads for food to get to the back country.

By the way, the ACA has been increasing premiums since it started and it is now inploding because no one makes enough money any more to underrwrite your health care. You can save big time if you sign up for one of the Medi-share or other such sharing type healthcare programs and often get better service. Since you don't want to keep up with such things you might have missed the complaints from the middle class about being broke paying for healthcare premiums that go up 200% a year and that they can't afford to use due to the astronomical copays and deductibles.

And By the way, the illegals were getting treated "free" because they were giving false names and using street addresses they found on their neighboring houses on the streets near where they lived. Their neighbors were getting the bills, addressed to their house with people names that did not exist, made up.

So quit complaining, get a job that offers health care program and sign up at the state level when they get this worked out. There are exclusions and subsidies you can qualify for at low income levels. That will simply be relegated to the states to handle instead of the Federal Government.
