The Obama Administration Did Nothing

In the wake of the disputed Iranian presidential election this June, Iranians waited to see the Obama administration throw its support behind the opposition demonstrators who defied intimidation and brutal harassment by the Mahmoud Ahmadinejad regime to gather in the streets of Iran. The support never came.

If the Obama administration had supported the Iranian people, it could have gained a crucial ally in the disenchanted Iranian people and brought strong pressure to bear on their repressive government. In addition, it would have taken a stand for democracy and human rights, and backed the Iranian people in a fight for their lives and their future.

Instead, the Obama administration did nothing.

Obama has taken the right approach in Iran...the same approach Reagan did with Eastern Europe. Endorse the efforts of the pro-democracy elements. We have seen how well the Bush Doctrine of fighting other people's wars for them has worked out.

Huh? Where'd you see that of obama? He's ignored teh efforts of the pro-democracy elements in Iran.

While there were many "behind the scenes" things done, the Obama administration was very careful not to overstep the boundaries. They did this because you do not want to give the opposition (the Iranian government) the option of accusing the Americans of fiddling around with their countries politics AGAIN.

Many Iranians still have a deep resentment about American intervention in the past (yes we did intervene in the past and it did not work out so good). Both Republican and Democratic former US Presidents, world leaders, and people who actually read a newspaper know this and the consensus was "do not give the Iranian Government a reason to blame the US and conjure up a common enemy"

And if the Obama administration got up and more strongly supported the opposition there would have been much more bloodshed in Iran and the coup we all hope is coming would have been dealt with with an iron fist by the current regime. Oh and retards like you would be blaming THAT on Obama now.
