Issues Raised About Hasan on Bush's Watch
Date: November 11, 2009 08:21PM

For six years, administrators at Walter Reed expressed concerns about Hasan's behavior. The Bush Administration did nothing...

...Bush was more concerned about recording EVERYBODY's phone conversations instead of responding to valid concerns raised by officers in the military.

If that is the standard, then Clinton truly was responsible for 9/11.

i could be wrong, but i dont think the bush administration established the military protocols for putting a doctor on probation or expelling them. it's all 20-20 in hindsight but if it were so blaringly obvious at the time, this wouldnt have happened.

blaming the past is not going to help fix the future.

It wouldn't have mattered if Bush established protocols or not, a complaint has to be filed before any action can be taken.

As the news reports reveal more about Hasan's past, he was described as argumentative, belligerent and sometimes aggressive when discussing the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and Islam.

Although his peers felt he was teetering on the edge, they also felt if they filed complaints against him, they might be misinterpreted as religious intolerance subjecting themselves to possible disciplinary measures (for failing to be PC)

Instead, the internal board (strongly) encouraged Hasan to attend lectures about terrorism and the true meaning of the Islam faith in hopes it would re-channel his anger. He attended the classes, but obviously the message didn't get through to him.

Political Correctness has it’s place, but it’s become such a touchy issue. It is often abused either for personal gain or to avoid dealing with difficult situations, such as this.

If a group of highly educated professional doctors are concerned about the emotional stability of a peer but afraid to do anything about it because of the “rule of PC,” maybe it’s time to redefine the term.

Obama is pro "stick your head in the sand" in the best interest of PC - far more so than Bush who often choked on his ankle nearly everytime he opened his mouth.

Another WTL post deflecting the fact that Obama's presidency is a failure thus far. Big surprise.

"Thus far" aside, it's still too early to determine that the Obama Presidency is a failure. However, if the topic is discussing Presidencies that did fail, George W. Bush's would be right on topic.

"Thus far" is not aside, as it is an intrigal part of the statement. I specifically used the term "thus far" to make that point. I can still say the Redskins suck thus far into the season. If they win the Super Bowl, the season will have been a success. Likewise, Obama's Presidency may be a success, but he has yet to right the ship so to speak.

Great, you are comparing Obama to Goerge W. Bush. Way to set the benchmark high,

Well, he and his Administration were in fact responsible for allowing the situation to arise, which did in fact lead to it.
