How can I identify a real Persian Rug by sight?

I have a signature on the fringe pattern of my rug, is that a sign of authentic Persian? How can a person tell a real one from a Job Lot junk?

If its handmade or not. Its really quite easy to distinguish hand made from an automated machine pattern. Look at the back of it and look for slight variations in the stitching. If its all uniform it ain't handmade.

I have a white cashmere large Persian rug. Got a deal on it for 5 grand. Could probably go for 15k. Somebody spilled some water on it and its red from the pattern stained the carpet underneath. Pisses me off.

Greeks call it a "flucardi", they make it with sheep wool. If it has a signature on the fringe it could be hand made (I thinks), the signature should be in Persian script.

They should be coming down in price quite a bit. They were banned from the U.S. during the sanctions. They were also unable to export them from Iran altogether. I'd say they're probably flooded the market after the sanctions were lifted.

When I was driving through Vienna last night on Maple Ave., I saw that there's a new rug store coming. It's right across the street from Whole Foods. No inventory yet, just the walls were freshly painted and getting the store prepped. Do you think Ravi is at least a partial investor in this new Vienna establishment?

I'm not a rug expert you moron. I'm just well rounded and informed. And there have been news reports on the effects of U.S. sanctions on Iran. Maybe you should stop exclusively watching Fox News. You might know something.

Sorry Ravi, but I don't subscribe to cable TV. I don't watch news stations.

It's actually more funny to watch you here on this site, especially after the alcohol and meth has entered your body. Your posting becomes very erratic.

The only thing "right across the street from Whole Foods" on Maple Avenue is the Town Green you idiot.

Across the street, but not directly. Towards the south a little bit - I think the party store is in the same strip as the "coming soon" rug store.

If I thought you were trying to be funny, I'd think that was pretty funny. I don't think you were though.

I am not an expert in this sphere and that is very hard to tell you something on distance. I believe that you can ask some experts to tell you the truth in this aspect. I know that the professionals from DorisLeslieBlau working with such Persian rugs and I believe that they could help you. I don't know is it possible to realize in online, but just try to connect with them. They are rather kind people that are competent in the sphere of their work.

You can recognize a Persian carpet according to the fringe. Nomadic carpets are made of wool and are therefore darker than fringed carpets made of cotton in factories. Nomads do not have cotton and often make wool carpets of their animals (Camel or goat). The fringe makes a big difference:
When they come straight out of the carpet as an extension of the base, it's hand-made. Later, machine-made carpets with fringes were sewn together.
The fringe thickness determines how dense the carpet is: on a thin silk base, it's easy to tie tiny tight knots, while on a thick base, it's just hard work.
I had a genuine Persian carpet damaged. I found out about these carpet repair services, and they managed to repair it.
