I've never seen so much hatred of a fairly (unknown) musician anywhere. As one reviewer said, Meade's music may be me naive, mediocre, and a bit naive, but its not point black horrible. I wonder why such hatred of a pleasing fellow would exist? Some of his stuff is actually kind of quaint (pleasant). I venture to guess he said some things that offended some, or what? Just read comments on his youtube videos. And most of them have a lot of thumbs down.

If Meade was point blank horrible, he would be a lot more popular.


Most people don't hate Meade Skelton because most people have never heard of Meade Skelton.

That is actually a place where 'Ignorance is Bliss' is fitting.

People just don't like those who hype themselves and that is what Meade does.


Meade could have been a working musician, I suppose, but he wanted to be a star first and a musician second.

His talent never was good enough to be in the limelight.

Without Justin Bieber looks, he needs the talent to become a star.

Then he went to amazon and actually wrote fake reviews of his own stuff! Very unprofessional. That is why people attack him over the years. I don't think he does the fake promotion anymore, but once people find you out, the trust is never broken.

Meade is a lot more known than people here or even Meade himself realize. His true fans have to stay in the closet for fear of being ridiculed. Being a Meade Skelton fan is akin to being a Trump supporter these days. You can get hassled for it.

Hell, Meade was country before country was popular. I remember him years ago singing in carnivals and circuses, he was on rhe "A" list of performers for fairs, the Watermellon festival was a big gig that pulled in great tips for young Meade

I am a fan of Meade although I do not condone his self-promotion. His music isn't particularly my cup of tea either. But whereas I don't care for it, I would not say it is particularly horrible. Meade has many fans besides myself, including Fairfax Underground's own eesh, and Karen Leiser, the sex-crazed wayward wife of bottom-feeding Moreno attorney Phillip Leiser

What Meade can do is flex his man-boobs like no one else on the planet. Meade is possessed of some impressive moobs and he knows how to use them. One day the world will recognize true talent.

He finished high school 20 years ago(two decades) and didn't go to college or join the military.

he had a cult following but many ditched him after the "Kroger's incident". Now much of his gigs have dried up and his bookings canceled. Hopefully he has learned his lesson from this. Its about time. He is an adult and needs to take responsibility for his actions.

Meade Skelton is quite possibly one of the best singer songwriters keyboardists I have ever heard!

Making it big does not always equal talent. Lots of mediocre musicians became famous. Look at Nickleback. Meade is better than they are.

Meade didn't come to the Richmond music scene until around 2002. Therefor, its been 15 years. But let's face it, he may be a "nobody" but he's probably accomplished more artistic wise than anyone else on this lousy forum. At least he stays true to who he is. That is inspiring in this age of auto tune.

Its not about playing an instrument. Its being an artist. Its a whole different thing. Of course people cam play instruments and sing. (more people can actually play instruments than sing well). Meade is a performance artist.

Meade's music is banal. His lyrics are doggerel. His singing is not unpleasant but it really isn't much more than that, and he is not pleasant to look at especially when he is performing...

He graduated in June 1997 so he has been out of school for 20 years....

Not really that weird. People hear Meade's music and after a few moments find something else to listen to. His is music is uncompelling. Calling it nasty names isn't being fair either. Calling it 'unlikable' seems to fit best.

If his art was good enough, lots of people would look past his social commentary. Even people who are "Canceled" maintain a core audience. Louis CK is touring right now.

When was the last time Meade played and a fan went out specifically to see him? I'm thinking Eesh when the Meadow Street band played Aunt Sarah's, that was over five years ago.

Nobody hates Meade. It's just like one or two troll losers with too much time on their hands.
