PelosiKare: Pay Private Insurance $15k/year or be Jailed

PelosiKare and the demokrats are ready to stick it to our poorest Americans. Sad to see it happen. Do Pelosi's new class of criminals get health care in federal prisons? Maybe that is the way to get the public option?

Won't ever happen. Age is the only area that is not protected by the max 16% of income cap for a private policy.

Can you see the headlines now when peri-seniors (60-64) are tossed in the hoosegow because they can't afford a private policy (let alone the fine) because their assets and income exceed the eligibility requirement for a subsidy?

Keep in mind, the average Social Security benefit exceeds the eligibility requirement for Medicaid or the Public Option.

I never agreed with the "death panel" crap, but I DO believe in the prison panel. Obama and Pelosi will not be happy until all poor people under 65 are in jail. They jointly piss on the Constitution and laugh.

Some site tells you those fears are overblown, but no demokrats are saying "No one will go to jail or will be threatened with prison under our plan" are they? No! In fact it is built right into the legilation. Republicans bringing this up are reading it out of Pelosi's bill, they aren't making it up. They are simply relaying to the public the wording in the bill.

If someone wants to get a free ride and, by choice, not contribute, fuck 'em. I would think the GOP would be endeared to that since it's pretty much your motto.

As long as they can be legally barred from doctors' offices and ERs without paying cash up front I agree.

I agree with that. The public won't have the stomach for it though thus the need for penalties.

i call bullshit.

perhaps you should read what they are getting this BS from: http://republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov/UploadedFiles/JCTletter110509.pdf

a) tax is only for people who dont have private insurance
b) their claim of $15k/year is an "estimate" of the cost of coverage for a full family in 2016
c) the alternative is to pay the national average premium (for single or family) OR 2.5% of their income
d) people who dont qualify to pay for income tax (po' people) and dependents are exempt

stop with the scare tactics.

good. Im tired of paying for people that dont have health insurance. Ever see the fines for driving without insurance (and not paying the uninsurance fee to the DMV) in VA?

If we provide affordable health insurance and people still dont buy it - fine them. Good. As it stands now those of us whom have insurance pay for those that do not. Those above the reasonable income limits set under the bill that do not buy minimum insurance should be fined.

Isnt that what Republicans want too? I mean this is a way to get lower middle class to stop using the ER room at the higher classes' expense?

Comparing health insurance to sr22 insurance is wee bit of a stretch but overall I totally agree with you. I don't mind chipping in for those who are truly unfortunate, but people who are just lazy should definitely get fined!

You were probably born with a silver spoon in your mouth. How will the rest of us be able to come up with $15K ?

Vince is proud of the fact that he managed to land a job with the government (who did you know?) and stayed in a place that is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to be fired from, in particular if you are a minority, or a woman. So yes, be proud of the fact that you managed to retire from probably the easiest job in the world, that these days qualifies you to be an elitist. Meanwhile the rest of the folks are working for private companies that no longer act like the old IBMs and such of the old days where you were able to work at the same job until you retired.

So while Vince could have been a total screw up, he would have retained his job - probably was promoted - and then they all breathed a sigh of relief when he left. The Peter Principle definitely holds true in the fed. Keep on feeling all superior Vince - its obvious you never learned why you should be humble about certain things.

You can forget about that.

The Bill is very clear that an estimated 12M illegal aliens, although they may buy insurance through the exchange, are not mandated to buy insurance as are Americans. Nor is there is anything in the bill that bars them from continuing to receive health care at hospital emergency rooms (payment for service optional) – even if the care does not fall under the category of “emergency.”

Further, there is nothing in the bill that mandates employers provide health insurance for “contractors” or employees if their payroll is less than $500,000 – which is easy to achieve with skillful bookkeeping.

It is highly unlikely the Republicans’ version of this bill will include provisions that address any of these exemptions.

Athough this sounds like a good option, and implemented in most hospitals and clinics in European countries with national health care, the US is not Europe.
