Local jurisdictions have the right to decide how they hold their elections. They could allow hamsters and goldfish to vote if they wanted to, or hold an election based on the number of trees in your back yard. It's their community and they can govern themselves as they see fit.

Only a filthy liberal would state we have the right to self-govern. disgusting and decidedly anti-fascist. How do you sleep at night?

Yep. If you want to know what the lib's endgame is, look at what the smaller liberal jurisdictions are doing. They won't come out for that platform at the national level because they'd become even more of a regional party than they already are, relegated to less than 30 Senate seats and about 150 House seats.

But make no mistake, illegals having full rights in this country is one of the many anti-American goals of the democrat party. Soros and his puppet masters want it so that is what the democrats will do. All wrapped up in the flag of fairness and compassion.

Geez, liberals have no common sense at all.

Well you're no Nostradamus because a neighboring jurisdiction (Takoma Park) has allowed non citizens to vote for probably close to 20 years now.

Citizenship wasn't required to vote in early America and was legal in a lot of places through American history. The notion that "only citizens" should vote is more of a 20th century idea, it's not always the way things worked before that. Most of the ones triggered by the College Park thing are just the white supremacist sky-is-falling trumptard crowd.

No sane American citizen would approve of this. Libs are nutcases and hate America. They are diminishing what it means to be a citizen. They will buss voters in to vote since there aren't any regulations on who can vote. So a illegal can go vote in their own country then vote here too. They have no allegiance to the USA. I sure hope Putin himself comes to vote in college park. What a bunch of stupid, hateful, hypocritical libtards.

In early America, not only did you have to be a citizen to vote in most places, you had to be male, white and a land-owner. Eventually, that expanded. You don't know WTF you're talking about.

Uhhh, like yeah, and that's what gave those non-citizens their right to vote. Look up "alien suffrage" or "alien voting rights in the US", you will find plenty of examples of that happening all over the place in the 17 and 1800s

As soon as they do 100,000 asians from california will arrive next election, vote their leader in "write-in", and proceed to slowly kick the niggers out of what they thought was their town "for sure" after the bill.

So for example....in any election..if any others from any part of the world wanted a certain candidate to win an election...these people can run over to America, vote their guy in and leave?
Now that's pretty fuckin stupid

So any one country can control who becomes president by actually voting in that election...
Let's let all the polish in and see how that goes!
Take all the polish here..:promise them a free mutha fuckin ride, noImsayin and

there was an article about it in Time Magazine this summer:

so yes, non citizens had the right to vote in elections (and even hold office ) at different points in American history

No one said any different. It was the rare exception though (thus, the use of the term "in most places"). Stop trying to act like this was a common occurrence. It wasn't and never has been. It's typical libtard behavior. If you're against it, you're a racist. It's shit like this that doomed Hillary. Only two options for the future of this country: another civil war/revolution or a fascist/socialist government state. This is always the way libtardism ends.

If you look over the course of American history it was a relatively common occurrence. when the country was founded and for a long time afterwards state laws did not expressly include a requirement that you must be a U.S. citizen to vote, or provided certain non-U.S. citizens could vote. There was even a Supreme Court case in the 19th century which expressly noted this. It was not until the 20th century that the last of the states prohibited voting by non-U.S. citizens, and it was also in the 20th century that the U.S. prohibited non-citizens from voting in U.S. elections. While it is certainly true that non-citizens being allowed to vote became rarer over the course of our history, and since around 1920 it has been limited to a few localities, if you look over the course of our history it was common.

As to the wisdom of it, I don't see it as different than allowing nonresident property owners the right to vote in local elections.

Rare. Very rare. Always has been in the US. And then you inject race-baiting bullshit into the argument like vomiting all over the top of the diarrhea sandwich you're trying to sell here. We're not buying it junior. Sorry, you're still horribly, terribly, pathetically, insanely wrong. Why can't you just accept that? Or is this like the Trump election where you will never accept that you were wrong, that you lost, and that no one buys into your stupid lies about Russia and the KKK?

Damn, you are stupid as a fucking rock. You can't even keep your own shit straight in one thread over the course of few hours.

they're allowing them to vote in their local elections. like voting for the people who decide on things like snow removal or how to fund a new jungle gym at the town park. they're not allowing them to vote in state or federal elections. they're basically saying "hey, you live here too and we think you should have a say in how our town is run". Does an HOA only allow citizens to vote?

I'll answer for him as he's proven too stupid to come up with anything coherent:

for the democrat foot soldier, it's because it makes them feel good - embracing the downtrodden, etc. It's all about the feels.

for the democrat party power brokers, it's about seizing power and keeping it. They don't give a shit about the illegals, just the votes.

for the global elite, it's about creating nationless economic zones, to be divided up by the 0.001%ers and ruled as benevolent masters over their sheeple. They don't give a shit about counties or politics.

Most HOA's don't allow renters to vote, only the property owner. Thus, the "O" in HOA. And they never allow the people squatting in an unoccupied house to vote.

We let non-citizens vote just like you keep citizens from voting.

Nobody keeps citizens from voting unless you're a felon.

It's a dangerous precedent to set.

Unlike you Troothless I have a life which involves a real job, so I cannot review and respond to posts as they are made like you can.

Why should they be allowed to vote? Well why shouldn't they. By voting we are electing the people who will determine the rules that we live under. They are not just voting on the rules that American citizens have to live under. They are voting on the rules that those who live here, work here or own property here are going to have to live under.

You are acting as though questioning the idea that only U.S. citizens should vote is violating a rule that was handed down by the Founding Fathers, and is at the bedrock of our Republic. It isn't. When we adopted the Constitution we started with the notion of dual citizenship. You were the citizen of the U.S. and a citizen of a state, and the states were entitled to determine who was a citizen of that state. The states were also with a few restrictions entitled to determine what rights citizens and noncitizens would possess in those states. Many, probably most, at one time or another allowed non-U.S. citizens to vote. It took a long time for us to reach the point where being an adult citizen of the United States entitled you to vote in the state where you resided, and it took about as long for the last states to close the door on non-U.S. citizens voting in state elections.

Some of them chose to leave it open for localities. Don't like it, then change the Constitution and trample on those States Rights that you claim to hold dear. Just don't hide behind the American Flag and carrying out the wishes of the Founding Fathers, because you are not. If this was Virginia or Fairfax County doing it, I would not be happy either. However if some town in Maryland, in California or in East Podunk wants to do it, then fine.

Blah,, blah blah. Thanks for the TLDR screed sparky.

If this shithole receives any federal dollars, they should immediately be cut off. Illegals should have zero votes on how my tax dollars are spent. That includes all federal funding for education, infrastructure and law enforcement that is in anyway impacted by decisions made by College Park elected officials or any officials that report to the elected officials. Then, I won't care if what they do. But as long as they get tax dollars that I pay into, I have every right to care. Moron.
