I was in college here in Virginia. Classes were canceled early and I saw a lot of commotion in the student hall. Everyone was glued to the TV sets. The old fashioned clunky things, just before the flat panel ones came out. Anyways, I noticed hardly any Muslims were on campus that day. I had seen them just a week earlier. Not hard to miss with their hajibs and such. I saw some state troppers. 1-95 into DC was completely at a halt. Luckily I was headed South, not north. So I got home okay . I had no idea that a 2nd plane had hit until later that afternoon, and then the rest to follow. When I saw the WTC at first, they kept saying it was a small engine aircraft. But I kept thinking that doesn't make any sense...

I was sleeping 1.5 miles from the Pentegon in my condo the explosion woke me up. I had been up all night watching my 1st born son of 12 days. Back then I thought you had to watch a baby sleep to keep it safe so I would stay up all night for the first few weeks.

Came into living room and my wife was crying saying 'they are gone' because I had waited an hour or so to get up and the towers had fallen. I was so tired I told her to wait a minute so I could get some coffee.

Lost some friends in the Towers - shit still pisses me off

I am from Virginia, and I really don't know anyone from NYC or that area in the towers. I only knew of some folks in the Pentagon. Its funny how people forget the Pentagon was hit too. I guess because it was little Arlington, VA and not a big city like New York, people don't care as much.

125 people died at the Pentagon and almost 3000 in the towers.


That means that people are almost 25 times more likely to have lost someone in the towers.

I was in 8th grade at Kenmore middle school in Arlington. I remember I was in health class, and someone went on the intercom and advised everyone to turn on the news. We saw the report about the first plane crashing. I figured at the time it was some idiot who crashed a plane into one of the towers. I remember reading a similar incident happened in the 1940's when an army air corps plane crashed into the chrysler building I believe. That idea was swept from my mind as right before our eyes we saw the second plane launch into the second tower. It really was beyond belief for all of us what was happening. Kids weren't allowed to get picked up from school, kids were crying because they had parents who worked at the pentagon.

The day after that when we learned Al Qaeda was responsible, it just gave us a pretext to pick on the Muslim kids. Teachers and staff mostly turned a blind eye. That's really all it was to me at that time. Just a forlorn event that gave us an excuse to pick on the brown kids.

I spent today - 9/11 - drinking in a bar playing Buzztime Trivia.

The people around me talked a little about the day of the actual 9/11 attack back in 2001. They talked about where they were, what they were doing at the time, when the news hit them about the first Tower strike, the Second Tower Strike, the Pentagon Strike, the plane going down in Pennsylvania, the Towers coming down, people they knew or were related to that died.

Touching stuff. Everybody had some emotional story line - like their take on 9/11 was really important and relevant to what unfolded that day and in everyone's life.

I'm sitting there thinking - most of you half-wits voted for George Bush - the guy who was supposed to never let this shit happen on US soil, and then voted for Donald Trump to be our President - so who the fuck cares what you think about 9/11 - you people are really fucking stupid when it comes to our national security and who is in charge of it. You turned this country over to 2 complete imbeciles - first Bush and then Trump. Fuck you people. STFU already! You've done more to hurt America than the 9/11 terrorists.

i was watching the news eating between studying

i believed it was an ad for a new movie when i turned it on it was just happening

it took me a few minutes to realize it wasn't coverage of a new movie

i later attempted to sign up for forces for the war - which was down for "too much traffic" (note the war was later called "the war everyone wanted to go to", not discussing why here, but money was one reason). the president came on tv and said "if your signing up just for this war don't - we have enough people"

George Bush handled everything well that day. I can't imagine Obama doing as a good a job. Obama would use the opportunity to talk about gun control (lol) or why we shouldn't blame Muslims. Everyone knows Muslims did it. It wasn't an "inside Job" that's just some Alex Jones crap. We know that Muslims lie about it too. They won't tell you that they really hate non Muslims and are taught to lie to them.
