Just 5 years ago, Meade Skelton was on the brink of stardom. His song "sweet tea" was a massive hit. He had a legion of fans on twitter and facebook. He was getting more interviews and guest spots on TV. Then he even appeared in a movie as a featured extra playing a dead soldier.

But lately his gigs have dried up. His shows have drawn little audiences. Even the hipsters aren't ditching him. Did he do or say something that threw it out of the loop? We were all pulling for him.

I don't know where you got that info? Pulled it out of your ass I suppose. Meade's career continues to evolve with both new music and a new image, one of a preacher and doing a darn good job of it. Meade has been at the very top and in the low valleys and subscribes to the motto: "what will not kill me only serves to make me stronger", not a bad philosophy at all. His career is doing just fine.

Meade is legit talented.But there's not a market for the kind of music he does anymore. Its like he is a 1980's guy trying to evoke the 1930s. Think Buster Poindexter.

Meade delivers food for Uber Eats and claims he makes $40 to $70 per week. He says he does not work every day because he has other things he needs to do.

No picture of Meade's failure is complete without some mention of the fact he is rather blah in the talent department. I have been to a few piano bars where I heard worse, but they weren't going anywhere with their music either. Why Meade that he ever had the musical talent to have a full-time career as a singer/songwriter is a mystery.

4.Good piano player
5. Music with lots of soul and personality

"Talent" can be subjective, but Meade is very above average in all those respects.

As a solo artist, he is uninteresting.



That said, he might have been able to make a decent living as a working musician if he actually started playing music in bands instead of thinking that everyone should be fixated on him alone.

There are far more musicians who are able to support themselves playing music than there are 'superstars'.

Now in his late thirties, he is too old and unfortunate looking to hang out in the music scene and be asked to 'fill in' for other players and to do the other footwork needed to have a respectable career in music.

Meade is fascinating as a solo performer. You're never too old to play music. He's incredibly interesting as a performer. He has an endearing stage presence. A fresh charm and innocence. His voice is great and his keyboard playing is great. The songs are not.... um , the best, but he is great on stage.

While talent can be subjective, Meade has no drive. He doesn't want to work, he doesn't want to. Practise. He doesn't want to hustle to find work.

To be a musician, you must play music. Meade is a one man garage band at his best days.

He might have had the right idea but the wrong application. He was hoping to be discovered or noticed by some "Big Shot" Hollywood Producer or Music Tycoon. Give him credit for trying, if he worked full time he would not have time for ventures like that he might reason.
