Legal pot and car crashes: Yes, there's a link

Does driving while high have any impact on auto accident rates? Legalized recreational marijuana use in Colorado, Oregon and Washington correlates to about a 3 percent increase in auto collision claim frequencies compared to states without such legislation, according to a new Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) study. It's the first one the group has conducted since the drug went on sale legally.

"More drivers admit to using marijuana, and it is showing up more frequently among people involved in crashes," the study said.

You ever tried driving with a good buzz on?

It's not easy!

you could smoke 50 joints and not be as out of it as Tiger Woods was - what did he take some Ambien and Oxycodon? I dont think its possible to smoke enough to become as impaired as someone with a full-on drunk going.

Admit it pot is pretty damn safe unless you are a bag of Cheetos

As a long-time weed smoker I know my driving ability is impaired when I'm stoned.

Not as much as with alcohol, and different people are affected differently, but it is impairment.

I don't get behind the wheel loaded as much as I don't get behind the wheel drunk.

So, less dangerous than prescription drugs, cell phones, or eating while driving...

This isn't a study based on the number of accidents where a driver was determined to use pot. It is a study based on the number of accidents generally.

Why is Marijuana illegal?
By Christopher R Rice

Have you seen the governments latest anti-marijuana commercials that claim “Buzzed driving is drunk driving”?

Buzzed driving is not drunk driving. Weed will never turn you into a stumbling drunk. Yeah, but don’t all of the government funded independent studies show proof?

Myth busters

Science and research are solely funded by big government. One of the governments biggest hoaxes is the MRI that shows marijuana smoke killing brain cells. This MRI still shown in classrooms around the country today was conducted on reise monkeys who were denied oxygen while being forced excessive amounts of marijuana smoke via a face-mask. It was only this denial of oxygen that killed their brain cells not the marijuana smoke as seen in the MRI.

The government lies! Why does the government lie? You only need to lie when you have something to hide. What does the government have to hide? Bribes, murder, treason!

Why is marijuana illegal?

The pharmaceutical and health products industry spend more than $1.6 billion on federal lobbying, every year. Or about $1.2 million a day that Congress has been open for business. But why is marijuana illegal? The pharmaceutical and health products industry do not want to compete with a safer alternative. That grows for free in all 50 states.

Consequences of the governments lies can be seen everywhere. Police have conducted strip searches on the side of highways, forced anal exams looking for drugs that didn’t exist plus all the fines racked up from people who’s only crime was smoking a doobie. If you get pulled over and you’ve smoked weed you will be cited for being under the influence while driving!

I’ve looked high and low, but I can’t find the disastrous consequences of marijuana/drug use apparent anywhere other than the Drug Czar’s predictably propagandized press releases. Whenever the government claims that marijuana will cause you to crash your car, just look for the corpses. Where are they?

The accidents were all road rage of people getting pissed off that they couldn't pass some stoner going 20 mph under the speed limit or spending 20 minutes at every 4 way stop sign.

98% of the accidents were dented rims from pulling into 7-Eleven parking lots to get Twinkies.

The pansies and the weak minded ruin it for responsible aficionados'.

Mostly, the only difference legalization is going to make is who gets the money, the government or the growers.

Maybe we need a law to stop people from driving while high?

there is no link

* "once you get a buzz, there's no getting higher" (crosby, still, nash: who would know better? unlike democrats: they weren't lying.)

* buzz'ed drivers are impaired but more safe, if they have a mind for dd, than drivers with ANY ammount of alcohol

* being totally stoned is equivalent to being "over the limit" but much harder for cops to test - which is one reason it was on the "illegal list" (for practicality). the test kits? expensive and slow as molasses with results.

democrats paying themselves to get high to "perform a lying study"

fuckers should be fined stiffly for stealing government money

i have an add to that:

today's pot smokers drink and are unconcerned with the world or health

(yesterday's pot smokers were "against drinking")

* mixing drinking and pot with driving is 2X MORE DANGEROUS than a normal DUI. someone who is found to be impaired by both should have their keys taken away IMMEDIATELY

today's kids are a product of obama clinton democrat communist school mayhem

they don't have values, the world to them is a case of chronic lying and liars
