^^Very true.
And no, you will not get rich on government pay. The top pay for GS-15 step 10 in the DC area is only $161,900. SES pay is a little better but still only about the same as an entry-level job at a large law firm. The easy work, time off, insurance, and job stability are the reasons to work for the goverment -- not the money! (Pay is higher at agencies like FDIC that get funding from industry.)
