RIP Children's Television fixture, Brian Cant

“HERE’S a house.
Here’s a door.
Windows – one, two, three, four ...
Ready to play? What’s the day?"

Does that bring back memories?

What about

. “Here is a box, a musical box, wound up and ready to play,”
“But this box can hide a secret inside.
Can you guess what is in it today?”

We loved his rhymes, we loved his talks, but, truth be told, we really loved his side-kick Chloe (Ashcroft).

Everyday we sat in front of the screen waiting for the next conversation between Brian and Jeremy, or Brian and Humpty, or, to see what Chloe was wearing.

Other than our parents, Brian was our first teacher. He not only taught us days of the week, he taught us the months, calendars, and seasons. And with his slow cadence and near perfect diction, and with a go-go booted Chloe by his side, he taught us friendship, and what good legs on women should look like.

At 83 years old, Children's Television fixture Brian Cant passed away today, sent away to his own Camberwick Green in the sky.

RIP Brian, you have no idea how many friends you left behind.

I will never forget Brian and Billy dressed up as two "Chinamen," complete with the long thin mustaches, and one asked the other, "What is 645 cornballs minus 334 cornballs?" the other said "I don't know," an the fist said "Chinese take away." Today, that joke would be considered culturally insensitive.
