What are you going to do when Sears & Roebuck goes out of business this summer & it fails under warranty?
The problem with my LG is the mold growing on the door seals. I bleach the shit out of it about once a month. Still a PIA but it's worked well for the last 5 years.
Lg is the shit. Just gotta cycle bleach through tub wash cycle and keep the glass clean on the inside of the washer door.
They also have a chime that's like a check engine code when something breaks. Tells you what's wrong and diagnoses itself.

Ask anyone who works on appliances, LG's customer and tech support is the worst in the industry. The translation from Korean to English on their technical data is horrendous! If you need service on a LG product find a Korean technician. As far as telephone support prepare to be on hold for at least half an hour before a English speaking person will talk to you.

I do prefer the old appliances too. The EPA rules about energy and water consumption started causing all kinds of problems around 1999 to 2001. I have taken many an old washer and dryer that was being disposed of and fixed them up like new for like 60 bucks. Sometimes I sell them or give them to friends or family for the cost of the parts I used. Old Maytag stuff from the 70s or 80s is the best.

Yes it is true that the front loaders are easier on your clothing and they use much less water. If you wash in hot or warm water that adds up to energy savings as well.
Dryers however have not changed much with regards to power consumption. Drying your clothes on a clothesline will save you a shit load of money but nobody wants to do that!
My LG washer is ranked number 1 by the state of California as the most efficient washer on the market. At least it was when I bought it. Water and electricity. Cali would have given me a rebate if I were in that state. Wash the fuck out of some clothes with no regard for cost. Gotta keep that in consideration.

The house I lived in in 1965 had a front load washing machine.
Front load washing machines are also annoying if you can't open them up to add clothes after they fill up. I think some can be opened and some can not. I have no idea why they are so popular. It just introduces another seal that can potentially leak.

A few years back I was having a house built and someone wanted to buy my house 3 months before my new house was completed. I stored all my stuff and lived in a cheap motel. I never knew what a incredible luxury it was to have my own washer and dryer.
The laundromat routine is just awful. My new house has all Kenmore stuff which is just whirlpool in disguise but I have had no problems with it.

Okay, but are the freezers and fountain machine energy efficient at your Circle-K?
The shit that's been pissing me off is the dryer connection to the vent. I finally made a set up that you can pull the dryer off the wall and it won't destroy the dryer hose.

Top load washers are the only way to go. Drying clothes on a line is the way to go if you can. The dryer lint you remove is just your clothes disintegrating. Stop being lazy and hang your shit out to dry.

When did you, or any Pakki for that matter, ever start using a washing machine? You people don't even know what soap is, never mind what it's for.

I used to have this black girl to do me, but she got a better job in Oregon, so she moved there.
Now I have a Mexican girl. She's OK, but she doesn't explode in crazy orgasms like the black girl did, especially when I went down on her. The Mexican girl has Big Os, yeah, but they're not explosive, crazy mad flailing, bucking and screaming like the black girl did.

A quality front-loader works just fine provided that you read the fucking manual and operate it properly. They save tons of power (both on heating water and drying clothes because front-loaders spin faster), water and detergent and they're easier on clothes than a traditional top-loader. They clean just fine with the exception of non-solubles; if you have a pocket full of sand they might not get that out.
-Leave it open when not in use, so it can dry out. And don't leave clothes in for very long after they're done.
-Don't use too much detergent. They use little water, so you need less detergent. Using too much will leave residue that retains moisture and prevents clothes from being rinsed properly. Also you can use the "extra water" option on most machines, it's still very little water.
-Periodically run a cleaning cycle with bleach or washing-machine-cleaner.
-Occasionally clean it manually-wipe off the seals etc. Ours has one drain in the front that you should stick something into once a month or two in case there are any hairs in it.
Our LG washer works wonderfully. The only problem is that it slams the water valve shut a bunch of times each cycle, creating a noisy water-hammer effect that can damage pipes. This was solved by closing the water supply valves about halfway so the flow rate into the washer was reduced. You can also install water-hammer arrestors if you want to be sure.

Just get a good top loading washer and save yourself the hassle. I had a Sears model that lasted 20+ years and worked fine - used it 4-5 nights a week. Only reason I ditched it is my kid fucked it up and my wife hated the way it looked. YMMV though, I'm not sure they make'm like they did back in the 80s. Probably not. But that top loader was a real workhorse.
Last thing I need to worry about is washer maintenance and care.

wen the thin sheet metal they passed off to you as "the front" bends, the hinges will mis-align, the gasket will no longer contact
but that's not the problem. they use parts that intently fail just a little after warrantee. parts that you'd think would be the last to fail: will fail, and are impossible to repair
THE COST OF A NEW DOOR, which they say "fixes it" (not, see above), is more than half the cost of the washing machine
asians do the same thing with cars these days (note: not all models and makes though - but some hell yes they digging into customers on false repair costs VERY deep)

I bought a cheap Kenmore top loading washing machine in 1998 when I bought my first house. It lasted until 2015 till it started making noise and shit. I bought another Kenmore cheapie to replace it. Life is too short to even care about washing machines. Just buy a new cheap one when you need one. Fuck all that LG shit just get Whirlpool or GE or Kenmore.

Biggest mistake I ever made was replacing a 1970 kenmore washing machine when we bought a new house. I thought it would increase reliability. Nope. The old machines were made with all metal parts and are still in service today. I ended up replacing worn cheap metal and plastic drive parts in my new washer within 3 years time. Pain in the ass as you have to research and diagnose problems, order parts and special tools. I had to replace one drive washer twice as it would wear to the point where the agitator would not work. I assume this was either to spare a fragile drive motor or simply to make people buy new washers after 3 years and to engross landfills.
Front load?!? are you kidding? These crap-built machines can barely keep water in a drum mounted horizontally. WTF were you thinking?
