Cary doesn't suspect the Morenos had a hand in the sites' shutdown, but I think it's likely they did

Think about it. Sharon did work for at least two three-letter agencies we know about, and undoubtedly has contacts that could have helped her stage an attack on the underground. It isn't so far fetched to believe she used a russian based contact to initiate the DDoS attack in an effort to shut down, or at least dissuade Cary from dedicating the upkeep to the site. Why would someone other than the Morenos go at lengths on their own accord to shutter the site? As Cary stated in the sticky thread, the site generates know revenue.

The Morenos couldn't pull it off.

They are far too petty to do anything that requires thought.
