Winning it won't make you a millionaire. Must not be that much celebrity, once they win it you never hear about the jungle nigger anymore. No free pussy with that win, still got to buy pussy with them jungle looks and smell.

As the principal sponsor for the race, John Hancock Financial Services has been awarding prize money to select division winners since 1986. This year, the company will be shelling out $830,500 to the marathon’s fastest men and women in the overall, masters, and push-rim wheelchair divisions.
The first-place finishers in the overall men’s and women’s categories will each receive $150,000, and the next 14 men and 14 women to cross the finish line will earn some cash as well. Here’s the breakdown:
Second place: $75,000
Third place: $40,000
Fourth place: $25,000
Fifth place: $15,000
Sixth place: $12,000
Seventh place: $9,000
Eighth place: $7,400
Ninth place: $5,700
10th place: $4,200
11th place: $2,600
12th place: $2,100
13th place: $1,800
14th place: $1,700
15th place: $1,500
In the masters division, the fastest man and woman will each win $10,000, with the next four finishers earning anywhere between $1,000 and $5,000.
John Hancock will award the following amounts to the top 10 men and 10 women in the push-rim wheelchair division:

The area of Kenya where a lot of the best runners come from — the Western Rift Valley, is very impoverished , there are no jobs apart from subsistence farming.
It's high altitude, and if you want to get anywhere, you have to run. Probably since there has been a tradition of great running, it's the one thing somebody can do to escape the poverty.
Plus, the thing about running is, the best way to get better is to run. The elite runners all do really high weekly mileage, and in the Western Rift, once you plant the beans, there's not much else to do.
They wouldn't win if they didn't put in the work, so they deserve all the credit.
