Nevada to vote on selling regulated and taxed marijuana

Colorado will also vote whether or not to legalize possession. Of course whether or not it passes and becomes legal in the state it will still be illegal federally. The tourism industry there will certainly skyrocket there though and maybe there will be an Amsterdam themed casino, how kickass would that be? The drug czar even traveled to Nevada to campaign against it like he did the last two times it was on the ballot. What's everyone's opinion on decriminalize/legalization for NOVA/VA ?

They tried this a couple years ago. Unfortunately, it didn't pass.

DC had a vote on medicinal marijuana a few years back and I don't think they even released the results of the vote, which I guess means it passed.

It would be easier if they just made it a non criminal offense. That way the people who have a stick up their ass about others enjoying themselves could still feel there is a law against it even though it has no effect.

Meanwhile people come to work stoned on prescription drugs for depression and shoot up the whole office. I am very sure the side effects of pot are nothing compared to valium and prozac.

And when it does happen I can see gravis hiding under a desk with the rest of the women. Calling FCPD on his cell phone asking them to save his candy ass.

In Colorado it's simply a "civil offense" with a fine for possession. CA is almost as good, no arrest or jail time and $100 fine if 21 or over but it's a misdemeanor. I think 11 states have decriminalized possession usually of an ounce or less and about the same number have medical. Alaska also tried to legalize last elections but failed. Sooner or later one will pass.

I don't smoke it, but I'd support decriminalization. I also think it should be legal to grow it for your own personal use. It doesn't seem like a very "free society" to me when a government can punish you for growing a plant on your own private property.

And as much as the immigration posts bore me to death, I'll also point out the irony that you can get into a shitload of legal trouble for possessing a certain type of plant matter in this state; but, you can sneak across the border, work without paying taxes, steal govt. services, etc., and pretty much get away with it scot-free.

Just read in the paper where a kid shot up his entire family. He was taking anti depression drugs. You think they worked?

So that means they don't work? How many millions of people take them daily with no problem? You don't need to be depressed to kill people either and with some people all the drugs in the world don't make a difference if they will do something like that.

Twenty years ago you never heard of all these drugs being prescribed especially to kids. Give them something for ADD to calm them down. Kids are supposed to be active, they are kids. All these drugs are bs to make profits for drug companies. ADD drugs are nothing but a substitute for lazy parents.

Twenty years ago many of these drugs did not exist. ADD drugs are not anti-depressants. Ritalin, Strattera, Dexedrine etc are not used for normally prescribed for depression or designed for it. (dexedrine was many years ago when it first came out because like all amphetamines you feel good on it in the beginning before developing an addiction).

How ironic that you can buy all the alcohol and tobacco products you want. I don’t personally see the problem with having a few ounces of weed. That would free up time and space to put real criminals behind bars. Although I don’t smoke anything, I’d rather encounter someone stoned than someone drunk.

I am saying it is stupid to give kids drugs to make them less active just because the parents are lazy and dont want to spend time with them.

I am sure if Lewis and Clark were alive today someone would try to give them ADD drugs to keep them from walking around so much.

And yes the drugs do work. They take a perfectly normal kid who likes to be active and turn them into a zombie who does nothing all day but stare out into space. If that is what you call working then yes it does.

Funny you mention Lewis & Clark because Clark shot himself to death resulting from depression and if anti depressants were around and he were taking them then that may not have happened.

"Lewis delayed publication of his journals, which would have earned him a fortune, by neglecting to hire an editor. After a bout of severe depression -- an illness that had dogged him earlier in life -- Lewis shot himself in October of 1809 near what is now Nashville, Tennessee. He was on his way to Washington, D.C., to defend himself against charges that he had misused public funds." http://www.pbs.org/newshour/gergen/ambrose_book_6-20.html

This post started about marijuana, (prescribed for anorexia, chemo withdrawals, glaucoma, AIDS) then your first two posts after that were about anti depression drugs, now you are talking about attention deficit disorder drugs and kids. That being said since you are obviously a pharmacist or a psychiatrist, ADHD medications are primarily stimulants having the affect of increasing focus, not sedation like an anti-psychotic medication or tranquilizer might have. Go to any college campus during finals and you will find people popping Ritalin to stay up all night to study or write papers.

I never know who to root for, a person like tim who looks and looks for an argument online, or a guy like gravis who uses the term "pwned" in reference to someone being corrected by another user (or at all for any purpose).

Decisions, decisions.....

well... i rarely use that term. i think it's retarded to use all the time but in this case, Mofo really stuck it to tim.

If Lewis and Clark were alive today, they will be happy they discovered Oregon.
The third state in the nation to legalize weed.
