Funny you mention Lewis & Clark because Clark shot himself to death resulting from depression and if anti depressants were around and he were taking them then that may not have happened.
"Lewis delayed publication of his journals, which would have earned him a fortune, by neglecting to hire an editor. After a bout of severe depression -- an illness that had dogged him earlier in life -- Lewis shot himself in October of 1809 near what is now Nashville, Tennessee. He was on his way to Washington, D.C., to defend himself against charges that he had misused public funds."

This post started about marijuana, (prescribed for anorexia, chemo withdrawals, glaucoma, AIDS) then your first two posts after that were about anti depression drugs, now you are talking about attention deficit disorder drugs and kids. That being said since you are obviously a pharmacist or a psychiatrist, ADHD medications are primarily
stimulants having the affect of increasing focus, not sedation like an anti-psychotic medication or tranquilizer might have. Go to any college campus during finals and you will find people popping Ritalin to stay up all night to study or write papers.
