10,000 users of Hotmail had their passwords posted online. Microsoft is launching an investigation.

Idiots are idiots, it doesn't matter if they're using e-mail or "snail mail", they will be taken advantage of...
How about, "Don't be a sucker!"?

Exactly. If you're using one of those free email services (or anything you do online) you should have at least three passwords at any given time. One for your home computer, that you never use anywhere else, one only for banking, and one for all the random sites like hotmail, yahoo, gmail, digg, here, etc.

In fact, you should probably have several for the random sites that need passwords.

But at a minimum, three distinct passwords protects you in cases like this.

A declaration of ideological warfare against liberalism is by its nature profoundly unconservative. It meets perceived radicalism with a counterradicalism of its own.

Banking is one thing I typically stay away from on Computers.

neophyte! nyah nyah nyah!

It's okay to bank online. Just don't use the same password that you use on this site, or ebaumsworld.

Your banking password should have mixed case letters, a few numbers and punctuation marks, and should only make sense to you after translating all that gibberish.

So if you can remember "Houses of the Holy", you could make a password like "H0ns3s_0f-T43.H07y" or something.

You remember the original phrase, but nobody could ever use human engineering or a dictionary attack or a brute force attack to crack the password.

It sounds like you aren't going to have much luck getting your money back, then.

If I was you, I'd change my password from cheetah to cougar immediately, and hope for the best.

DAMN, that was one hell of a password right there. I usually mix mine up as best as possible, but that one really takes the cake.

The trick is to throw in a few of your own "replacement" characters, like n for u, or something.

Also, I used zero for all the o's. It's probably a good idea to only replace a few o's, and leave a few as the letter o.
