NOVA vs. Central VA
Posted by: Truthful ()

I'm sure this has been done before.

Here's what I SEE:

NOVA: Central VA:
Sports Bars Country Club

Rudeness Southern Hospitality

Arrogance Humbleness

New Money Old Money

Tacky Good Taste

Trendy Classic

Redskins Fans Hipsters

Narrow Minded Culturally Aware

Hannah Montanna Indie Bluegrasss with a touch of GWAR

I hope I didnt offend anyone, but I must say there is a lot of truth to these stereotypes. Northern Virginians claim to be open minded, but they live in their own little bubble called Northern Virginia. They're obsessed with The Washington Redskins, strip malls, SUVs, and flashing around their new money. Central Virginians while not perfect, are laid back and Richmond is a very hip and thriving city, while maintaining a genteel Southern aesthetic.

I see someone who is a legend in their own mind that cannot stop obsessing over their perception that somehow they should be the center of the universe but doesn't understand why they aren't. The only rudeness they perceive is the fact that their self-centeredness has gotten to a point where they can no longer fully comprehend just how irrelevant they truly are.

The fact that they keep trying to promote how wonderful they, and their self-centered perceptions only reinforces this fact.

A bit of advice - if they love Richmond so much, maybe they should move there.

If you can’t model the past, where you know the answer pretty well, how can you model the future? - William Happer Cyrus Fogg Brackett Professor of Physics Princeton University

More northern VA tax dollars go to fund projects in Central and Southern VA than Northern VA

+1

If not for NOVA, the entire state would be a real shithole.

I disagree. NOVA is like a boil on the neck. Maybe its necessary, but its not an attractive thing to have.

Northern Virginia has country clubs, but many of us prefer the informal atmosphere of a bar. So what?

It seems to me that none of us are trolling Richmond forums... going out of our way to insult their residents. So you need to reverse this one; you're rude.

Again, you are in no way humble. You constantly refer to yourself in the 3rd person, claiming that you are a talented musician or handsome.

So Old Money = No Money? How is that a good thing?

Yeah, because you really have good taste. Please tell me you can tell that is dripping with sarcasm.

I don't give a damn about the Redskins. But if you think hipsters are a good thing, you are delusional. Oh wait, we already knew that.

This coming from a person that can't accept anything that isn't southern? You are the most narrow minded person on this board. And we've got Vince posting here.

You can't be serious? Hannah Montanna is for little girls... no one over the age of 14 cares about Hannah Montana.

Negative. You never offer any proof, just make blanket statements.

We've heard all of this from you before. You get an idea in your head and have to spout it out over and over again. The problem is that your ideas are misguided and you are not capable of reason.

Despite my love for parts of Central VA, I do have to admit that they can be extremely cliquish down there, and very unaccepting of "newcomers", which includes people who despite having family connections to the area, might have just moved down there. Yes, it is true that you do find a greater ratio of humble people in other parts of Virginia, but NoVa isn't all bad, and Central VA most certainly isn't necessarily all good.

Have you ever seen that stupid overpass just south of Richmond on I-95? Our tax dollars went to that garbage, and for what? That is one thing I am tired of, is the constant leeching of our money for showy projects which politicians use in their home districts simply to justify their being elected in the first place.

I'd be game to test your theory and keep our tax dollars in Northern VA for a while ... just to see how the rest of VA fares.

Since when are boils necessary? Doesn't everyone have them lanced?
