I know one thing. It sure isn't Jammin' Java! That place is the most uptight pretentious white bread joint Ive ever been into.

White bread, as opposed to what, Multi-grain Wheat?

I'm partial to O'Shaughnessy's in Old Town Alexandria, myself.

It's not in Fairfax, but Iota in Arlington has a lot of acts through there.

Meade, there are a lot of great places near the Navy Yard in DC. The place is filled with live music around midnight.

Blessed are the murderous.

I've always thought the State Theater in Falls Church is pretty cool. I just wish they could pull in some bigger acts. The place just isn't that big with all the dinner tables.

Yes, because after all, if its a big named act, it must be good....

Usually you can only hear the distant beat of the music from that location. To REALLY get to where it's off and popping, be sure to head a few blocks east of there, straight across the river. Travel down Good Hope Rd (An Oxymoron of a name), and take a left on 18th Street.

I really like TOMMY'S PLACE on Mathis ave. in Manassas Va. I recently saw a great local country band there called The Gunsmoke Band . The staff was very nice and the food was good too.

I'm old, so I like the Birchmere. I can have a couple of drinks before the show, grab some dinner, and then sober up during the show, and drive home. Yeah, there's a lot of gray hair in the audience for a lot of the acts, but that's my age group at this point.

Birchmere is nice when they do the bandstand thing. The dinner theater set up is like you said, for the oldsters.

Seldom Scene? Asleep at the Wheel?

Perfect venue.
