Your normal average non-partisan law abiding American would care. It's a police state/banana republic spying scandal. It is outrageous. Much worse than ANYTHING Nixon did.

I have seen no evidence that anyone is a traitor. None. Zero. Nada. Zilch. When you hear about some evidence let me know. Nothing yet. I'd like to know what it is.

You kidding there is a ton of evidence. Sessions lied, Flynn lied, Manafort lied. Flynn tried to help Turkey organize a kidnapping in Pennsylvania. Carter Page lied, Roger Stone predicted the wikileaks release of Podesta's emails.

It doesn't fucking stop. Now Flynn is asking for immunity. It's only been 65 days or something. All of these motherfuckers are going to federal prison.

Lot's of Dems only watch MSNBC, CNN. They actually believe the wild-eyed stories being put out by the Democrat media. Working themselves up into a lather. They really believe this shit. I feel sorry for people that can't think for themselves.

Anyway, I loathe Trump but I will wait and see if there is really any evidence. Not going to believe it just because the Democrats want it to be so. Rumors aren't facts. Most of what mr. gerry is saying is really only spin. A loose interpretation of supposed facts.

That why Flynn is seeking immunity because he has a story to tell? It's only been 2 months and his National Security Adviser is already desperate to stay out of jail.

And what's worse. He's not being granted immunity.

Yall can deny reality all you want but a foreign attack on our institutions and possible collusion is one thing you will never be able to sweep under the rug.

https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-04-03/top-obama-adviser-sought-names-of-trump-associates-in-intel

Eli Lake - who has been following the media talking points has finally cracked a little bit. He rather disingenuously states:

The standard for senior officials to learn the names of U.S. persons incidentally collected is that it must have some foreign intelligence value, a standard that can apply to almost anything. This suggests Rice's unmasking requests were likely within the law.

So Lake is revealing that Rice and the Obama administration will argue that they had a legitimate reason to spy on Trump and his staff. Of course, he makes no comment about whether it is also lawful to leak this information to the media.

But he can't deny the obvious:

But Rice's multiple requests to learn the identities of Trump officials discussed in intelligence reports during the transition period does highlight a longstanding concern for civil liberties advocates about U.S. surveillance programs.

Indeed, much about this is highly unusual: if not how the surveillance was collected, then certainly how and why it was disseminated.

Lake is full of BS though because he himself says that:

...the reports said they contained valuable political information on the Trump transition such as whom the Trump team was meeting, the views of Trump associates on foreign policy matters and plans for the incoming administration.

This is nothing short of outrageous. Nixon never did anything like this.

Imagine if Obama's National Security Adviser lied about undermining sanctions and then was seeking immunity after resigning because he may have plotted a kidnapping in Pennsylvania with Turkey.

Not to mention the endless other shit with everything Trump. Fox news red alerts would be so non stop there would be no time to actually tell the news.

Tempest in a teapot. It’s pretty simple. There is a McCarthyite witch-hunt going on. Look what happened to guys like Sen. Stevens, Rep. Delay and Gov. McDonnell. Prosecuted by crooked AG’s, careers ruined and then all charges overturned and dismissed later. Who wants to deal with that? Nothing wrong with being careful.

Rather predictably no one is denying anymore that Trump, Trump staffers and family were targeted for surveillance. The defense machine is already at work. The story is now being put out that this spying was justified.

So let's be clear. Everyone is now admitting Trump and his campaign have been spied on for over a year. But it's OK.

I hope for the sake of our country they don't get away with it.

If they had evidence of wrongdoing for over a year why has no one specified what crimes were committed and why no charge brought?

The rule of law. Correct. It is truly what makes civilized countries different than third world banana republics. I speak to many immigrants who all say the same thing.

Which is why we shouldn't be so excited that our government used spying for political purposes.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2017/04/04/former-cia-analyst-susan-rices-nsa-demasking-denials-dont-add-up.html

Rice’s denials don’t add up. It is hard to fathom how the demasking of multiple Trump campaign and transition officials was not politically motivated.

My guess is that Rice’s demasking requests were on behalf of the Obama National Security Council and were part of a broad campaign that began in early 2016 to abuse U.S. intelligence to hurt the Trump candidacy and then his presidency.

It wouldn’t surprise me if former Deputy National Security Council Ben Rhodes was deeply involved in this campaign.

Despite determined efforts by the mainstream media to stamp out this story, the smoke of this scandal continues to grow.

Susan Rice’s interview Tuesday added more smoke.

HOWEVER - the unmasked information is still classified.

Unmasking of the information and names does not cause it to become unclassified.

So the spurious argument that the unmasking was legal still does not apply to the subsequent leaking of the unmasked information and the names of American citizens.

The disclosure of classified information remains a felony punishable by 10 years in prison under 18 U.S. Code § 798.

So basically they were listening in on all conversations, text messages, emails and any other communications he had with Trump. And anyone that worked for Trump. And any Republican politicians or staffers he communicated with. Or any policy analysts or think tanks he communicated with. And any emails or communications inbound from the same.

This is Police State tactics. Political power plays. Just like in Wisconsin.

The throwaway line: Page has not been accused of any crimes, and it is unclear whether the Justice Department might later seek charges against him or others in connection with Russia’s meddling in the 2016 presidential election. The counterintelligence investigation into Russian efforts to influence U.S. elections began in July, officials have said. Most such investigations don’t result in criminal charges.

No matter, just like McDonnell, DeLay and Stevens - the damage has been done. Pure evil.

This is what systematic abuse of foreign-intelligence collection for domestic political purposes looks like: Intelligence collected on Americans, lawmakers, and figures in the pro-Israel community was fed back to the Obama White House as part of its political operations. The administration got the drop on its opponents by using classified information, which it then used to draw up its own game plan to block and freeze those on the other side. And—with the help of certain journalists whose stories (and thus careers) depend on high-level access—terrorize them.

HOW IS THIS NOT A STORY AND A CRIME?

In all, government officials conducted 30,355 searches in 2016 seeking information about Americans in NSA intercept metadata, which include telephone numbers and email addresses. The activity amounted to a 27.5 percent increase over the prior year and more than triple the 9,500 such searches that occurred in 2013, the first year such data was kept.

The government in 2016 also scoured the actual contents of NSA intercepted calls and emails for 5,288 Americans, an increase of 13 percent over the prior year and a massive spike from the 198 names searched in 2013.

The searches ultimately resulted in 3,134 NSA intelligence reports with unredacted U.S. names being distributed across government in 2016, and another 3,354 reports in 2015. About half the time, U.S. identities were unredacted in the original reports while the other half were unmasked after the fact by special request of Obama administration officials.

Among those whose names were unmasked in 2016 or early 2017 were campaign or transition associates of President Trump as well as members of Congress and their staffers, according to sources with direct knowledge.

Charges take time to develop after a thorough and complete investigation. Why are you so opposed to that process? Do you really want to live in some third world shit whole of a country that doesn't thoroughly investigate criminal wrongdoing before bringing charges? You have a warped view on how the criminal justice system does and should work. You have a very totalitarian viewpoint.

You really don't know how it works, do you? Graham cannot unilaterally subpoena Rice. It would be in violation of the Committee Rules. You see, you're in over your head again.

Wow! Three posts in a row. You're totally triggered, beta boy!

As pointed out earlier, you're in over you pea brained head. Graham cannot unilaterally subpoena her. There have been no regularly scheduled Committee hearings since Rice ducked Graham's request for her to appear on her own accord for the Committee to debate and vote on a subpoena. That lisping Sheldon Whitehouse can only provide her so much cover.

I know this is all way over your head because you know nothing about our government, let alone the nuances of Senate process and procedure. This is also called political theater - a term you're clearly not familiar with.

I await your next three triggered responses so I can bitch slap you again!

Only one post. The amount of restraint you used is remarkable!

Evidence takes many forms. Circumstantial, Direct, Forensic, Digital, Character, Demonstrative, etc. We know from past experience that Susan Rice has been flippant with the truth. We know that Susan Rice took it upon herself to undertake a mission to repetitively unmask Trump associates. Further investigation is needed to determine whether or not those unmasking requests were in violation of criminal law. If she requested the unmasking of these individuals under false pretenses (for political purposes only, e.g.) she would be in violation of 18 USC 1001.

In short, there is evidence, in fact, of an outward act that Susan Rice undertook that could be proven criminal if further evidence is uncovered.

Once again, you are quite welcome for the education you've received from me this morning.

Speaking of lying Rice - I see she ducked an invitation from the Senate to testify in regard to the Russian Election Interference she was fighting so vigorously the last 18 months. A golden opportunity to explain the Obama administration's case and defend their domestic spy program. Not surprising. She will need to take the Fifth anyway.

In the latest strange twist in the investigation of Russian interference into the election, former Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice has declined to appear before the Senate Subcommittee on Crime and Terrorism on Monday.

Strange but true. A top Democrat accidentally admits the truth.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D., Calif.) told CNN's Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday that there is so far no evidence showing collusion between Donald Trump's campaign aides and Russian officials.

Blitzer mentioned that Feinstein and other colleagues from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence had visited CIA headquarters on Tuesday to be briefed on the investigation. He then asked Feinstein whether she had evidence ... that there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia during the 2016 presidential campaign.

"Not at this time," Feinstein said.

In dramatic testimony Monday, Obama holdover Attorney General Sally Yates testified that she warned the incoming White House its newly installed national security adviser, Michael Flynn, was “compromised” by a lie and therefore a potential “blackmail target” of the Russians. President Trump can be forgiven for ignoring her warning. It was Yates who was blackmailing him.

The principal problem for Democrats is that so many media figures and online charlatans are personally benefiting from feeding the base increasingly unhinged, fact-free conspiracies — just as right-wing media polemicists did after both Bill Clinton and Obama were elected — that there are now millions of partisan soldiers absolutely convinced of a Trump/Russia conspiracy for which, at least as of now, there is no evidence. And they are all waiting for the day, which they regard as inevitable and imminent, when this theory will be proven and Trump will be removed.

...

But with serious doubts — and fears — now emerging about what the Democratic base has been led to believe by self-interested carnival barkers and partisan hacks, there is a sudden, concerted effort to rein in the excesses of this story. With so many people now doing this, it will be increasingly difficult to smear them all as traitors and Russian loyalists, but it may be far too little, too late, given the pitched hysteria that has been deliberately cultivated around these issues for months. Many Democrats have reached the classic stage of deranged conspiracists where evidence that disproves the theory is viewed as further proof of its existence, and those pointing to it are instantly deemed suspect.

LOL. The funny thing is as Dershowitz so aptly argues - colluding with the Russians is not even illegal (unless something actually illegal was done). The whole basis of the Deep State surveilling the Trump campaign is on shaky legal ground.

“Nobody can point me to a statute that would be violated [by the Trump-Russia collusion],” Dershowitz said. “And a prosecutor is only allowed to look for evidence of a federal crime.”

It’s like the entire fabrication of a faux criminal case against former Gov. McDonnell here in the state of Virginia by the corrupt Democrat machine. Yes, McDonnell did things that on the surface were smarmy and possibly improper. But they were NOT illegal. And the Supreme Court ruled so 9-0.

Same thing with the Trump-Russia collusion story. Perhaps unseemly and inappropriate but again NOT illegal. It’s a political issue not a criminal issue.

Nada. It will be awhile until he's in the news again. Although he *might* be in trouble with the DOJ over misleading about his contacts with Russians AFTER the election - he is actually not part of the group of people suspected of campaign "collusion." It might sound confusing because the media just mixes and matches all their Russia stories into one huge lump. So it really makes no sense for Mueller to target Flynn. That investigation will stay where it is at.

This is a story that needs more investigation. Makes John Brennan's testimony and judgement even more suspect than I thought.

What happened to make 2013 so much better than the year before?

Amazon won a $600 million cloud computer contract from the CIA. That was the difference – more than the difference.

Later that year, Jeff Bezos bought the Washington Post for $250 million.

To put that another way, Bezos used less than half the money he got from the CIA to buy the Washington Post.

the Washington Post often quotes unnamed CIA sources in its reporting.

Who was CIA director when this deal with the Washington Post was finalized?

John Brennan.

It was Brennan, a good friend of Obama’s, who said he believed the contacts were numerous enough to alert the FBI, which began its probe into Trump associates that same July.

Wouldn’t you like to see an investigation into the collusion between John Brennan, Jeff Bezos, Amazon, the Washington Post and the CIA?

The discredited Kushner-Russia story was a last-ditch effort to keep alive the narrative that the Trump campaign was in cahoots with Moscow. But it bombed. If anything, it showed they didn’t have substantial contacts during the election.

After all, if Kushner and Russia were arranging a “back-channel communication” in December, it means the Trump camp didn’t have one with Russia during the campaign. The WaPo’s “scoop” inadvertently blew up the media’s whole “collusion” theory.

Good News in this story. Thanks Obama, Susan, Clapper, Brennan and Comey. If not for your abuse of these powers they would not be overturned. America thanks you.

Indeed, some conservatives on Capitol Hill think intelligence sources could leak information on them too, as they did on former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and routinely flout laws sharply limiting surveillance on Americans.

“They are trying to strategize how best to attack this issue,” Rizer said, noting that he had met with several Freedom Caucus members and said that one spoke of his deep dissatisfaction with existing surveillance powers granted to intelligence agencies under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

“He said, ‘I will vote for sunset over re-authorization.’ I had never heard a Republican say that,” Rizer said, declining to identify the lawmaker.

Some lawmakers think re-authorization is in trouble without significant reforms.

“They don’t have the votes to pass it. It is that bad,” the Republican aide said.

Evidence is mounting that the entire Russia Collusion story was a plant by the Deep State eagerly utilized by the Dems.

By any balanced reckoning, the official case purporting to assign a systematic hacking effort to Russia, the events of mid-June and July 5 last year being the foundation of this case, is shabby to the point taxpayers should ask for their money back.

Unraveling of the fake story of the last 8 months.

The Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS) have been investigating the now conventional wisdom that last year's leaks of Democratic National Committee files were the result of Russian hacks. What they found instead is evidence to the contrary.

The U.S. public didn't quite buy Clinton's "the Russians did it" line last year, and she lost the election. By now, though, many Americans are sold on it. That may be an Iraq-sized mistake, leading to a dangerous failure to recognize that Donald Trump's victory was an American phenomenon, not a Russian-made one.

The U.S. government under President Obama wiretapped former Trump campaign Chair Paul Manafort in New York's Trump Tower under "secret court orders before and after the election," CNN reported, citing "three sources familiar with the investigation." Assuming CNN's report is true, it means President Trump, who was ridiculed earlier this year for claiming that his iconic building had been wiretapped, has been massively vindicated. But don't hold your breath waiting for an apology.

Samantha Power, the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, was ‘unmasking’ at such a rapid pace in the final months of the Obama administration that she averaged more than one request for every working day in 2016 – and even sought information in the days leading up to President Trump’s inauguration, multiple sources close to the matter told Fox News.

Two sources, who were not authorized to speak on the record, said the requests to identify Americans whose names surfaced in foreign intelligence reporting, known as unmasking, exceeded 260 last year. One source indicated this occurred in the final days of the Obama White House.

you are an idiot.

Most of the surveillance was done legally by our friends overseas who are allowed to spy on us and share information. They are actually obligated to share information. The Brits and the Australians have been feeding our people information about Trump camp and the Russians long before he announced he was running for President.

This information was part of what was presented to a FISA judge to get warrants.

A couple of months ago the head of the Australian version of the CIA, traveling to the US on a diplomatic passport, was cavity searched at LAX airport. You can't do that, and they did.

It's taking a long time but the Obama Administration and the Deep State's scheme to illegally spy on the Trump campaign and concoct the Russian Collusion deception is slowly emerging.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/two-senior-fbi-officials-on-clinton-trump-probes-exchanged-politically-charged-texts-disparaging-trump/2017/12/02/9846421c-d707-11e7-a986-d0a9770d9a3e_story.html?utm_term=.b44d2ea539e9

The former top FBI official assigned to special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election was taken off that job this summer after his bosses discovered he and another member of Mueller’s team had exchanged politically charged texts disparaging President Trump and supporting Hillary Clinton, according to multiple people familiar with the matter.

Peter Strzok, as deputy head of counterintelligence at the FBI, was a key player in the investigation into Clinton’s use of a private email server to do government work as secretary of state, as well as the probe into possible coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia in the 2016 election.

During the Clinton investigation, Strzok was involved in a romantic relationship with FBI lawyer Lisa Page, who worked for Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, according to the people familiar with the matter, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

... Strzok has been accused of “obstructing” the House Intel Committee’s investigation. “Investigators were contacted by an informant suggesting that there was “documentary evidence” that Strzok was purportedly obstructing the House probe into the dossier,”

...As a highly placed member of the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation team, Strzok rubbed elbows and cooperated with other intelligence agency heads including John Brennan at CIA and Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper. Both Brennan and Clapper have shown themselves to be as virulently anti-Trump and partisan as Strzok displayed in his text messages. And let’s not forget, Clapper’s report on Russian involvement with the DNC hack and WikiLeak’s was the foundation of the fake “Seventeen Intelligence Agencies have concluded Russian hacking on behalf of Trump” talking point that emanated from the Obama Administration, was parroted by the Clinton campaign and became a montra of the New York Times, AP, CNN and most mainstream media outlets until they corrected their own record earlier this year.

Was the August 2016 decision to spy on a Trump associate based on a Clinton campaign screed’s claim of a corrupt Trump-Russia deal? Did FBI and Justice Department officials lose their professional objectivity because Steele’s information fit their anti-Trump bias? Was the Steele dossier, in effect, the “insurance policy” Agent Strzok had in mind? President Trump can provide the answers to these questions: He just needs to order the FBI and Justice Department, led by his appointees, to cooperate with Congress’s investigations.
