My fellow Americans,
Today starts a new chapter in the story of the United States and it would be tragic to begin with all the characters are at each others throats. With that in mind, let me start by proposing a truce. By doing so, it is not the same as waving a white flag, just a cease fire until all parties can come together and work out something more permanent.

I hereby ask for a truce with the media. Can we start fresh today by pledging to be more honest with each other and to treat each other with more respect. I will promise to allow anyone to ask any question, no matter how uncomfortable it may be and you promise to only report factual and credible stories.

I also ask for a truce with the intelligence agencies. I admit that I overreacted in my responses and I apologize. Let's start fresh and work together to keep America safe. From now on, I will accept that whatever info contained in your briefings has been thoroughly examined and/or verified as much as can be expected and I will receive these briefings, attentively on a regular basis.

And lastly, I ask for a truce with the American people. I am not as perfect as I made myself out to be. I have made mistakes and will continue to make mistakes, but I pledge that from today until the end of my presidency, I will try to make life better for ALL Americans. Also starting today, I am re-evaluating my cabinet picks and surrounding staff in an effort to represent a wider gamut of this country. I'll also re-evaluate and hold to my positions on major policy issues. It's time for this political civil war to end and time for everyone in this great country to come together as family and get on with our lives.

Today is January 20th, 2017, the day future historians will (hopefully) write about as being the day America began to heal again. America is already great! It always has been great. Lets keep America great.

He doesnt have a track record as a politician, so as far as I am concerned, his slate is clean. People need to quit associating personal values with presidents. The president's job is to keep our country safe, both from both foreign and domestic threats. Not to tell us how to live, what to accept, or appeal to our personal values.
