anyone know the secrets of the Freemasons?
Posted by: murdstone ()
Date: September 19, 2009 06:43PM

I took a tour of the George Washington Masonic Temple this afternoon. Nine floors, but they showed us the 4th floor, 8th and 9th floors. After asking questions of the tour guide and a professor from GMU, both of whom are Masons, I still am unsure the purpose of being a Mason. In a nutshell, they say it's all about individual improvement; it's not a religion - all religions have affiliated lodges; the only commonality is that a Mason must have a believe in a supreme being (except in France - wouldn't ya know - where atheists are accepted). Just seems like a big club - 5 million members world-wide.

Anyone have any thoughts or clarification on this?

Just wondering and wanting to know.

Lizard people.

My father was a high-ranking Freemason, though. I think that means I'm eligible to be part of the club if I want. I'm still on the fence about siding with humanity or our future cold-blooded overlords.

Have you been reading David Icke's works?

The function of conservatives is not to meet every liberal program or scheme with a denunciation or a destructive counterscheme, but rather to weigh its advantages and defects, supporting the first and challenging the second. A declaration of ideological warfare against liberalism is by its nature profoundly unconservative. It meets perceived radicalism with a counterradicalism of its own.

Check you out! Mephisto the Mason. :o)

A friend of mine is a Mason. He won't spill the beans.

Front porch masons don't have any beans to spill.

I wonder what Freemasons do at their twice-monthly meetings. Sounds like it might be something like Fred Flintstone at Water Buffalo meetings or Homer Simpson going to Moe’s, i.e., getting away from the wife once in awhile.

From wikipedia:

Obligations are those elements of ritual in which a candidate swears to abide by the rules of the fraternity and to keep the secrets of Freemasonry, which are the various signs, tokens and words associated with recognition in each degree,[25] as well as to perform certain duties and to avoid doing those things which are prohibited by his Obligation. In regular jurisdictions these obligations are sworn on the aforementioned Volume of the Sacred Law and in the witness of the Supreme Being and often with assurance that it is of the candidate's own free will.

Freemasons use signs (gestures), grips or tokens (handshakes) and words to gain admission to meetings and identify legitimate visitors.

My grandfather was also a high-ranking Freemason in Indiana but as Grocho Marx said " I will never join a club thay would have me as a member"

Harry Truman was asked the same question, His response was something like "I am a 32nd degree Mason, I wish someone would tell me the secrets"

In reality, a little bit of fraternity type ritual, a secret handshake, and a look out for other Masons type attitude.

There is more, but not much. Join the Masons. You may enjoy it.

I was a Mason for a while it gets old quick. It's basically a big boys tree house or fraternity for those who didn't join one in college. Same thing as a local Moose lodge or Shriners. A bunch of adults dressing up in costumes every now and then. 95% of the Mason don't even know whats going on or are not activity. Mason's just want people to pay dues money to national headquarters.

The high degrees of Masons mean nothing either, you simply say I want to be x degree and then pay more money. Just like getting a scouting badge.

Moose lodges have 1.7 million members in the US. You get a cool hat, charity work and the Moose lodge has cheap beer. The Vienna Moose lodge is great inside.

I think every retired plumber in Fairfax county is a member of the Vienna lodge.

The people at Vienna Moose are a bunch of assholes who think they are so tough. Beware if you join. One night we were hanging out there minding our own business, and this one guy just kept coming out of the back room dressed up like Gruntar The Clown, acting like a complete dickhead toward everybody. He was yelling so loud we couldn't talk, and when we told him to quiet down, he sucker punched my buddy right in the stomach. And then some other guy came over and rudely told us that we had to leave, "or else". We didn't even do anything to be treated so disrespectfully. I'd never go back in there after that whole ordeal.

The Vienna Moose lodge is crap, but the Arlington Moose at the end of Carlin Springs Road (Scoville St.) is pretty good. It looks like an abandoned strip club but has a great back area with horse shoes, volleyball, and a cheap bar. If you drink liquor you have to bring your own and they serve it back to you at no charge (unless you want ice and a soda to mix it with, then it's $1). Cheap night out.
