Cancer survivor to Paul Ryan: I once opposed Obamacare, but it saved my life

"Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, I’m standing here today, alive,” he said.

Republicans say we cannot have anymore of that happening. We must sacrifice lives for the sake of insurance companies profits, and because don't like the government dipping into their "hard earned" wallets to pay for other peoples treatments.

Stupid. Here come the libtards with the dumb anecdotes.

Guarantee that if you look at the details of this his story will fall apart as far as what happened and what wa available to him as far as coverage and treatment.

Thanks to the doctors. Thousands under Affordable Care Act have died of cancer. Those are the breaks.... Thousands under any health care be it cheap or the best that money can buy have died from cancer. Cancer is a strange disease, some folks go into remission on their own. I don't buy the nonsense that going to a Richard Roberts or Ernest Angley Healing ministry can do it though any more then they can cire AIDs also,

What more is there to understand? Guy who opposed Obamacare gets cancer, and is able to get treatment due to provision not allowing insurance companies to turn him away. End of story. There are thousands of cases of people who get sick with very treatable conditions, but end up dying because insurance companies are more worried about their bottom lines than paying for treatment. It is something that effects Democrats and Republicans alike. It's not like liberals are asking for things that exclusively benefit liberals. This is something for all Americans.

As much as I revile Trump, and despise his followers, I still would not want to see any of them, including you get sick and die. That includes you vXeew.

Grateful guy: "Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, I’m standing here today, alive,”

Paul Ryan: "Yeeeaaahhh..... but it's named after a black guy and our mainly old, white, racist constituents can't handle that, so......sorry"

A lot. His opposition to Obamacare has little to nothing to do with his cancer or availbility of coverage and treatment. That's only crap to make the anecdotal story.

His story doesn't add up to it "saving his life." If this was after passage as it implies, then he's just presuming that he could not have obtained coverage/treatment otherwise. That's not the case. Did he have insurance prior to? If so, then he would have been covered. If not, then why not? Would he have had have access to coverage through a high-risk pool? Etc.

It's a bullshit emotional story. I run my own small business and I've had private insurance for close to 20 years now. My wife had multiple serious cancer events over that same time. So I know how this works and what was and is now the case.

I am glad to hear that your insurance provided the service you paid for, and that your wife got the treatment she needed and deserves. Unfortunately, not everyone has access to such care due to a. not being able to afford it b. insurance companies not willing to pay. There are thousands, millions even of Americans who are not as fortunate and die or incur serious injury because of it. It is emotional, because it is an emotional subject. The story states that he was denied treatment, because he didn’t have an insurance card — even though he offered to pay three times the cost.

I don't think anyone, Democrat or Republican denies that everyone has the right to good healthcare, it's a matter of how will it get paid for. That is the crux of the liberal argument for single payer healthcare.

The OP and his post are irrelevant - why?

Because the new healthcare system is going to keep such details as no exemptions for pre-existing conditions and no limits, JUST LIKE THE ACA NOW.

So the post and further arguing are all moot.

Idiots!

None of which addresses the fact that his story as presented does not support that Obamacare in any way 'saved his life.' It is as I said a typical anecdotal emotional bs story. As was most of the same kind of bullshit that was used when it was passed. About the only thing that Obamacare did for small business owners like him and me is to double the premium costs, raise deductibles and out-of-pocket by about 50%, and significantly complicate access to doctors due to consolidation and more restrictive networks as in the case of Aetna and Innova around here specifically. If you're poor and getting subsidized insurance then, yeah, it's a great deal for you. Unfortunately, those of us who were in the pool before are having to subsidize you.

Republicans - 'providing healthcare to 20 million is killing people.'

The stress of the skyrocketing premiums and deductibles killed thousands with stress related heart disease and weakness of immunity systems.

Millions of people set aside their opposition to abortion to see ObamaCare dismembered, vacuumed out, and flushed away. It's a big reason why Hillary lost.
