In the event of a civil war or some other catastrophic breakdown of government/society, I had always planned to meet up with relatives I have in Western PA in Cook Forest. They have plenty of guns and ammunition and know how to live off the land. Stay off the main roads and head north, ideally to New England.

Liberals drive Hybrid or electric AWD vehicles now. Electric vehicles work way better at high attitudes because they don't have to rely on compression of thin air. Plus they don't pollution as much so subsistence plant life\gardens will be much better.

A Prius could run circles around a gas vehicle at 5000ft.

Knowing how to live off the land, and actually living off the land are two very different things. Even experts will starve/get sick out there after not too long. Human civilization evolved around organized agriculture and trade. Even the early American settlers were pretty well fucked without those things.

A Prius is a hybrid, so it is a gas vehicle.... It runs on battery power at slow speeds, then the internal combustion motor cuts on at higher speeds, which allows it to go faster and it charges the batteries at the same time.

Unless you plan on figuring out how to hook up an inverter, powered by an extension cord, connected to a power source, the Prius will continue to be a gas vehicle.

Go to the mountains of Southwest Virginia, Kentucky or West Virginia where there is plenty of food and water, and coal is easily accessible from the roadside. You will have heat and can drive vehicles adapted to run on coal. The banjo music is often quite good as well. (Kreeg vehicle shown below)
