Boar's Head Radio Commercials?
Posted by: Donkeytimes ()
Date: September 18, 2009 01:04PM

Hello to all who care -

I know many of you like Washington Tone-Loc and crew listen to the radio quite often. Have you guys heard the recent series of Boar's Head commercials on the radio?

That old guy's voice used to do Wendy's adverts too. I can't locate his name, but his voice is interesting. Its up there with the Novartis radio spots!

Anyone else notice these commercials?

Donkeytimes.

James Lorenz

http://www.jameslorenz.com/

Type "Boar's Head commercial" and Google Suggest pulls "voice commercial" as one of the choices. Why people are interested in this guy is beyond me.

Blessed are the murderous.

Hi,
The voice you hear in the Boar's head radio commercial is that of veteran actor
Stuart Whitman. A notable actor of the 50's, 60's and 70's with such movie credits as "The Comancheros","The Longest Day","Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines". Many actors in the twilight of their career's pick up a few extra bucks doing radio and televison commercials. Other actor's getting into this are Tom Selleck, Richard Thomas, and Gene Hackman to name a few. If you listen closely to those commercials you might be suprised at who you hear.

If you listen closely the dude sounds creepy as hell. I keep envisioning spit flying out of his mouth onto the meat while he talks about it being prepared.

Rich-
No,The voice of Boar's Head is NOT Stuart Whitman. It's Joe Sirols and he has been the voice for over 15 years. And Gene Hackman is the voice for Lowe's, not Home Depot. HD is voiced by Ed Harris.

one of the messagers about the voice in the boars head radio commercials opined that the voice belongs to joe sirola; thank you for the name. I could not think of the name. i thought Joe was dead. glad he isn't. Love the voice, Joe.

Why would you hire a voice actor that sounds like that? He sounds stupid.

People are interested in the voice because the guy sounds like Larry Fine of the Three Stooges. It is an exact Larry Fine impression.

It is no where near Stuart Whitman!

Doesn't sound like Joe Sirola, unless he is doing a Larry Fine impression on purpose.....

I was a volunteer production assistant at channel 33 several years ago
and there was a guy who used to come in frequently to do voiceovers. He
sometimes made a lot of money doing them for corporate training and
promotional videos. He just had the right voice and customers found him
and not the other way around. Great job if you have the gift and the
ability to read long passages without a hitch.

It's not Stuart Whitman. It's Ian McShane, the guy from Deadwood.

Nope, I was wrong. It's actually Joseph Sirola. But he sounds just like McShane.

Joe Sirola, huh? His cadence and some of his affect remind me of Burgess Meredith, esp. when he mentions "pepper"; I can SEE Burgess saying these words.

Yes! I had the exact same reaction. That's actually why I searched because I thought. "That's Burgess Meredith . . . but isn't he dead?" (yes - and he died in 1997 according to wikipedia!).

I'm pretty sure it's Billy West, voice of Ren and Stimpy, who also does a spot-on Larry Fine ( Stimpy's voice was modeled after Fine). He is an amazing VoiceOver guy, working for years on Howard Stern Show for just that role.

Since 2 years ago (2012), the voice of Boar's Head is no longer Joseph Sirola, but the great Fred Melamed, star of the Coen Bros.' A Serious Man, the voiceover movie In a World..., etc. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0577329/reference
