In June, President Obama participated in a PBS townhall and was asked about Trump's promise to keep Carrier's Indiana plant in the U.S. The townhall participant -- Eric Cottonham, a member of the Steelworkers Union employed by Carrier -- asked Obama if anything could be done to stem the tide of jobs flowing out of the country, as Trump had recently promised to do.

Those jobs of the past are just not going to come back," Obama told Cottonham.

Obama also singled out Trump for derision, saying:
When somebody says, like the person you just mentioned who I’m not going to advertise for, that he’s going to bring all these jobs back, well how exactly are you going to do that? What are you going to do? There’s — there’s no answer to it. He just says, “Well, I’m going to negotiate a better deal.” Well, how — what — how exactly are you going to negotiate that? What magic wand do you have? And usually, the answer is he doesn’t have an answer.

Obama was half right. Trump "saved" some jobs, but people will still lose their jobs regardless. Donald possibly could bring some of those manufacturing jobs back to the states, but he can't build a time machine to send us back to the industrial revolution. It's time to face facts, and realize that many of them if not most won't be returning. There are too many factory workers in the 3rd world who are willing to take a fraction of what US workers would take. Automation/technology is the future.

I am nothing of the sort, I am a realist. Facts dictate my beliefs, and I know for a fact no American is going to work for 33 cents an hour. Sorry. I am more interested in living in reality, and formulating solutions to the problems in it, than perpetuating a delusion. Computer technology and engineering are what's going to propel our economy and workforce. Not antiquated manufacturing jobs where people assemble goods on conveyer belts.

I have no say in the wages that are paid to workers. Companies and manufacturers pay workers what they are willing to pay. I would question your loyalty for wanting to set our economy back half a century. The Indian "shitstains" and other people being contracted to do the software engineering jobs, are getting them because they are the only ones that are willing and trained to do so. Many Americans, like liberals, and half-wits like yourself would rather see their countrymen take on jobs like factory worker or blogger. YOUR attitude is the problem with the country. We don't innovate anymore because of it. I want Americans to have REAL jobs that pay REAL money that offer REAL benefits to themselves, their families and the country. Sure we need people design and assemble HVAC units and that sort of thing, but it won't be able sustain the national economy.
