trust me, I'll spank him til he cries when he gets home tonight.

I'll also impose a 30 day moratorium on blowjobs--although they usually only take about 7 seconds.

That boy gonna learn some manners, or he can find some new "strange".

Arizona Sen. John McCain , the 2008 Republican presidential nominee and a fellow veteran, denounced the comment as “totally disrespectful and called on Wilson to “apologize immediately” during a post-speech interview on CNN.

McCain is not the only one to admonish Wilson.

Hardly the rallying around Wilson you predict.

He will likely be censured or in someway disciplined by the House, as he should be. The irony being that the discipline will come quickly while the "investigation" into Raspy Rangel's financial matters will languish.

If only the Democrats were so indignant at their own when they heckled President Bush in 2005.

Please do. I am sure I can speak for many conservatives who welcome the learning experience that will come when the Democrats "go it alone" and ram through their legislation.

I will quote the popular mantra that seems to hold true under all circumstances of this kind:

"It's about the economy stupid"

In this case to also include the massive deficit.

I'm sure the Dem opposing him will see an influx of campaign donations from outside the state over the next few days.

I think this situation is great. I think more and more Republicans should get up and shout dumb shit like this. The embarrassment is counter-productive and it's hilarious.

You either need to turn on the volume or change the batteries in your hearing aid, of course they are shouting outloud. I can admit Joe Wilson is an ass for his outburst. Why can't you say the same about the gaggle of dumbass dems who are guilty of the same behavior?

To be fair, Obama called 'prominent politicians' liars immediately before being called a liar himself:

"The best example is the claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple.

There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false — the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally."

*** "You lie"

The question is not if the bill allows for immigrants to be covered, but how they will be prevented from using it. Will doctors check immigration status before treatment? Unlikely.

The best example of this is distinction that the US government doesn't allow immigrants to illegally come into the US, but it is apparent that they are (apparently) powerless to stop it. Will illegal immigrant health care be the same situation? I think the answer is obviously yes.

Im glad Joe Wilson did what he did. His story is on the front page of the

Yes I cited FAIR's website. If you like, I can also post links to NumbersUSA,
the Minutemen, etc... All are groups who opposed Illegal Immigration and I
trust them far more than the lying assholes who seem to think we cannot live

I don't consider FAIR to be accurate, rational, or unbiased. So I didn't bother reading it. In the same sense that I wouldn't bother biting into a moldy piece of bread just to determine whether it is spoiled or not.

I'm not coming from the standpoint of "a partisan hack." I am a realist. Obama will not fail on health care reform. When a bill gets passed, the recent Republican freak show will be tied around the Party's neck like an albatross...the same way the Terri Schiavo fiasco led to the downfall of Tom DeLay, Rick Santorum and Bill Frist.

With the House Democrats splitting on the with or without public option vote, and the Senate conflicted to the point that only Max Baucus seems to have any viable input, it will be interesting to see how they "come together" for this one.

They will come together because failure is not an option. If the Democrats want to avoid a repeat of 1994, they must be successful, even if it comes down to a straight party-line vote.

They must be successful. So they will be successful.

Yes, that's great. Keep an eye on that for us FF - it is obviously an important issue that needs to be refreshed every few minutes.

It will be interesting to see if it matters when the next election comes around - especially if there is no national ticket issue, like say Obama running for President...

Lol an "ass"? Are you serious? He's the first member of Congress to finally have some guts. It is a good thing that he called President Obama out, because the statement in question was in fact a blatant lie.

If any of you hypocritical leftists feel that you are more righteous, then go complain about the Democrat members of Congress booing President Bush, or Pelosi sitting behind President Bush, centered on camera, while reading a book during his State Of The Union Speech.

This is one of the best internet blog posts I've read yet that is being circulated on the internet. It hold both accountable for their statements and actions (or lack thereof) without taking sides. It will be interesting to see how the Democrats react.

========

bobfbell wrote in Washington Post Blog (9/11/2009) , “Shout Draws Focus to Illegal Immigrant Issue”

It is easy to criticize and dismiss a raving lunatic like Joe Wilson, but there is a grain of truth in what he infers about the impact of illegal immigrants on health care reform.

I am a supporter of reform but even I know that our current policies and laws relative to how immigrants are actually, not theoretically, treated when it comes to health care leave a huge loophole in the system which can be exploited without some greater degree of penalties and enforcement for gaming the system.

Ask the citizens of California if the provision of court mandated social services to illegals, including health care, is not a problem. Go to any emergency room in California and see the makeup of the clientele. And, the cost of these services is borne by the taxpayers of California and those citizens paying into the health care insurance system there.

Supporters of this bill also tend to align themselves with some degree of immigration "reform" which is code for some kind of amnesty as a partial solution. So it is easy and disingenuous for them to claim that illegals will not benefit from any "reformed" system while they continue their policy of benign neglect to the manifold problems caused by illegal immigrants. Fact is, if there are not strict provisions for fraud in any health care reform bill, there will be abuses and critics of reform will be correct in their opposition to it on that singular point. The minute there is "amnesty" you can bet it will include a full menu of services and benefits enjoyed by legal citizens.

If President Obama and Democrats are serious about health care reform and eliminating some of the "misconceptions" about it, why not simply include in the final bill language which specifically precludes the provision of health care for anyone who is not a citizen; enforce this provision by a Federal law superceding State laws and overriding standing Federal Circuit court rulings and making the penalty for fraud by any illegal alien (e.g. using forged documents or making false statements about citizenship) automatic deportation?

Vague and misleading statements about how little the illegal community avails itself of our health care system are nothing more than an attempt to divert critics of illegal immigration, like myself, from the central truth and fact: if you are here illegally you are not entitled to the benefits, to any extent, of a citizen, particularly benefits paid for by citizens paying taxes to support those benefits. And, if the Administration is serious about listening to "other ideas" and including in a final bill the thoughts of others, this kind of provision should be a no brainer. Why? Because in one fell swoop Obama could take the wind out of the sails of critics and prove he is both pragmatic and hard nosed enough to put his legislative money where his mouth is. Let's see if the steely demeanor on display Wednesday night carries through to the pragmatism of crafting a sensible bill?

By the way, same principle should apply to abortion, Medicare/Medicaid fraud and any other issue where conservatives have concern and would like our government to put some teeth into enforcing a law and not just bemoaning the fact that there is always going to be some slippage in any system as large and complex as this. If, as the President says, every health care dollar should count, we should be concerned about any waste and fraud and be draconian about preventing it. If we have a health care "crisis" we should not treat any aspect of solving it with half hearted or politically expedient measures.

If Obama and the Democrats continue to be "vague" and non-specific on this topic, they will by lying and Mr. Wilson, for all his boorishness, will have been correct.

This has some merit but I will say one thing. If the language requires everyone, say, carry a social security card to get treatment, you'll be pissing off a lot of regulars. Try going to the DMV to get a licenses these days. I'm legal, but damn if I know where my birth cert is or if my passport is up to date, etc.

The vocal minority SAY they would like the US to emulate the health care distribution system of other government-involved countries. This is how they manage health care distribution, with the exception of emergency care.

If you are not eligible for care, you do not get a card. Without a card, you are denied access to the FREE non-emergency care clinics and hospitals and either advised to pay for your service, or referred to a church run charity clinic.

If you are not eligible for free non-emergency government care, cannot pay for the service and don't want to go to a church clinic, then you do without. What happens to you after that is entirely up to you.

Americans seem to think they can have it all, can cover everything for everyone without question. and this will all be funded by the health care reform fairy.

It doesn't work that way and there IS an ugly side to government-involved health care distribution for those who are not eligible for care. It's even worse in countries with strict enforcement to prevent free-loaders from trying to game the system. Though it may not be on the website or posted on the front page of the newspaper, sometimes people do die.

At least he drew attention to the fact that the bill as written would have provided healthcare to illegals. Now they go back to work to plug that loophole.

------------

After President Obama on Wednesday said his proposed health care reforms would not apply to illegal immigrants, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) shouted out, "You lie!"

To ensure that new programs or benefits created through health care reform do not apply to illegal residents, Sen. Max Baucus and his bipartisan "gang of six" legislators from the Senate Finance Committee are reportedly considering adding a citizen verification component to their health care bill, which should be unveiled next week.

"We spent some time talking about how one proves one's status to be eligible ... to prove that you're a citizen," Baucus told Roll Call newspaper on Thursday. "Illegal residents are clearly excluded."

Roll Call reports that the gang of six is likely to mandate the use of Social Security numbers as a form of citizenship verification. The group would also likely give alternative means of proving citizenship, since some citizens do not have Social Security numbers.

The committee met Friday morning to discuss the framework for reform that Baucus laid out this week and ways to improve it.

That makes no sense. They are two different words and changes the meaning of the sentence immensely. It's fine to say I was wrong in my choice of words and this is what I meant to say. I think you owe the other poster an appology.

Since you agree with this response duma, that was obviously an attempt to make my argument irrelevant for the use of one word - the fact that you continue to argue with more irrelevance is just that. Irrelevant.

The other poster can apologize to himself for his/her own stupidity.

After they go through the steps of legalization, they will be legal citizens of the USA and therefore all rights to citizens are available to them (with the exception of a few things like becoming POTUS). Are you saying this is wrong?

Actually I just think you trying to defend your stance here was wrong. You obviously wrote it wrong, she/he read it as it was written, and now you're trying to back out with ridiculous justifications. Again, easy enough to admit your mistake and issue an appology.

So you admit then that Obama's argument was false. By saying illegals were not going to be covered under the new health care changes, he was "misleading" folks in the fact that he knows full well they are going to be covered when the immigration laws are changed to allow them to be here "lawfully". As folks who post here like to point out - misleading = liar correct? So, Obama was lying.

That is the only point to be made in this particular thread. if you want to argue path to legal citizenship you will need to talk to that in another thread.

What, troll business slow today? The rest of the point is moot.

Nice FAIL by the way.

But they're not illegal at the time of coverage (provided a yet to be decided mechanism exists to legalize them. If this never happens, they never get coverage). Do all you GOP'ers think this way? It really is ignorant.

RV, you're presuming Congress will pass a bill to grant amnesty for 12-16 million illegal aliens. It may be a just a little too soon to say "when" rather than "if."

It is a very real probability that Americans are for some government control to protect their right to unrestricted health insurnce at a reasonable cost.

I'm not so sure they are ready to give all those illegal aliens the key to the Medicaid Castle, knowing that Main Street Americans will be footing the bill. I'm also not so sure the argument that they'll be going to the ERs if we don't will fly either.

legal worker status is a temp resident and not entitled to government funded benefits - they are usually either on their own or sponsored.

Not in the way that has been discussed. I posted some articles on it the other day. They would not grant them amnesty, but per the bill it will only stop folks that are in the US 'unlawfully" from receiving benefits in the current form. So yeah - if they pass anything that gives them a lawful reason to be here, they will qualify.

A work visa is different than legal status RV.
