Constituants to Republicans:status quo is not a popular alternative

Although heated rhetoric over a potential government takeover of health care has been a staple of the hundreds of town meetings lawmakers held this summer, many Republicans say they heard a second message back home: No matter how flawed the plans being pushed by Democrats, the status quo is not a popular alternative.

Almost everyone agrees health care and insurance need to be fixed. No one wants to stand the system on it's head. They want things like no pre-existing conditions clauses removed, no more being dropped when you get seriously ill, transportability, etc.

The republikan strategy is to throw every bill now in development out the door and "start all over". At which point we will get health care reform the republikan way....minimal at best. The only good news is...no matter how it is watered down...a few years from now the public health care..single payer system will be enacted. This is nothing more then delaying the enevitable and allowing a few republikans to make big money between now and then.
