“I pledge to be of service to Barack Obama”

Hints of Hitler's youth.

Pure propaganda

Yup, all except for the mass genocide of 6 million people and the world war he started, this TOTALLY reeks of Hitler.

Brilliant insight. You should go work for the Palin campaign.

I now hear the words "I pledge..." echoing in my cavernous brain. I think, if that video was any longer, you could not watch the whole thing with your sanity intact.

And Anthony K let a brother down today... He should have just stuck with his first pledge...

WTF.

Seriously?

Let's just call him King Obama now. That is what this video reeks of. It would be one thing if it was just to work with a service organization, then it would be a PSA - this is a large step beyond that. It reeks a bit of facism... ok more than a bit.

Or, like what the Republicans are doing right now. Indoctrinating them while they're OLD.

It's hard to believe that old white people are more gullible than children these days.

I'm guessing it's because children are computer proficient by the time they reach grade school while old people have a hard time using their "remote-controlled" televisions.

Okay..it's is a bit over the top. No American citizen should take a pledge to any person..no one...our soldeirs, civil servants, politicians should pledge to one thing and one thing alone...To uphold the constitution of the U.S. The pledges by everyday citizens (celebrities in this case) to do certain things as 95% of the statements did is ok.

Hell no! Once Chancellor, I mean President Obama came to power we tossed the flag pins and replaced them with the O mountain pins. Why stand up for the principles and ideals that lasted over 200 years when we can idolize a man with less than a dozen years of public service. It's all the aluminum causing them to have Alzheimer's. They were the generation that used anti-perspirants, and ate Tums by the truckload.

Besides, old people have always been easily manipulated. Just ask any telemarketer or direct response advertiser.

Since all old people do is sit at home and watch TV, they don't experience the real world in person, they rely on the magic light box to tell them what is going on. And they believe it.

Honestly, for some of you (and you know who you are) there isn't ONE word, utterance, or activity that Obama says or does that you agree with?

Your undying need to label everything "facist", "socialist", or whatever your favorite un-American word of the day is, gives you not credibility, but lack thereof.

You've turned yourselves into the same people you profess to hate: intolerant, smug, partisan haters.

Get a fucking life already. Nobody pays attention to you.

Some moron I went to high school with is constantly yapping about "socialism" and how it's unfair that she would have to pay for someone else's health care.

A couple weeks ago I asked her how her summer was going. She said she had lost her job, but was glad because then she could just collect unemployment and spend time with her daughter hanging out at the public pool.

It's like half the people in this country are retarded or something.

People with serious physical and mental problems usually show more compassion then the typical "normal" person. We seem to respond well to natural disasters when people need help..but whenever there is the slightest perception that someone is getting something for nothing we clam up...until of course it us who need the help in which case we feel entitled. And some on here have thrown around the terms "democracy" and such and don't know what those mean, or that we don't have a democracy in the USA. It is fair to say that most of the country is ignorant, uneducated, and stupid. They formulate opinions based on what Rush or Maddow tell them to think.

You tell people here all the time they are inhuman and incompassionate, placing yourself high on the scale for compassion. With the above statement you are now defining yourself as having serious mental problems, which is good because acknowledging your condition may be a first step to recovery.

At this point. No.

He has surrounded himself with folks who are strong advocates for a kind of world I personally don't want to see (some of them are normal, but his key policy makers on agendas he is trying to have shoved through right now are off the track). So everything he says is analyzed and evaluated to see what it is he really meant.

WTL and I had some discussion about the "Gates" moment in his health care press conference. I still believe that the question was planted, and his response was genuine - he needed no teleprompters to whip off an answer that was unusually precise, and not full of "ums" and "ahs" as he thought about what to say. Yet the whole press conference prior to that had been just that when he spoke about health care reform. He created quite a shit storm with just that one set of remarks, on an issue he arguably shouldn't have even addressed at that press conference. He alienated a lot of folks with that episode - folks who voted for him - and he has continued to do so with all these other actions. Obama ran as a "closer the center" kind of guy, and promised a big tax cut to 95% of Americans. He has proven in practice to be as much to the left as all the critics said he was, with the exception of the wars - only because even in his zeal to apologize for America, he knew that we would be totally trashed in the world if we walked away from those two actions.

And yeah, I don't remember Reagan or Bush asking anyone to pledge themselves to HIS service. If you don't see why this statement is wrong then you probably are beyond understanding the rest of it.

Speaking of which... no, not reggie, I could care less...

No, this new conference call is interesting. Seems the National Endowment of the Arts and the Whitehouse have been organizing other tax-payer funded propaganda...

Everyone is denying they had anything to do with the actual organizing of this, but then the guy on the conference call (Michael Skolnik) goes on to note that he is doing this at the behest of the NEA and the Administration...

WHO SET UP GOVERNMENT ‘PROPAGANDA’ CONFERENCE CALL? Newly Revealed White House, NEA Audio Contradict

...
Which leads me to my opening question: What does it mean when a government official evades the truth? Well, it typically means that the official, or the organization that they represent, has done something that may be considered questionable.

But the contradictions don’t stop there. On August 28th, Joshua Miller reported for Foxnews.com that Siobhan Dugan, a spokeswoman for the Corporation for National and Community Service, the very agency that Sergant claimed was responsible for the invitations, stated that the conference call “was organized by an ‘individual interested’ in the group and was unable to provide a list of those invited to participate on the call.”

So which is true? Did the National Endowment for the Arts initiate the meeting, was it the Corporation for National and Community Service, or was it the interested individual?

You sort of have to shake off how pathetic this is in order to see how appalling it is. I mean, there’s the . . .

—stupidity: of thinking that all artists are going to agree with the entire Obama agenda.

—ignorance: of thinking that the purpose of art is to “make a stink.”

—vanity: of believing that Obama’s agenda is worthy of any artist’s creative attention.

—and of course the horrible lack of ethics: in implying in any way to potential applicants for taxpayer-funded grants that they must promote the president’s agenda.

What these appointees have done is over the top. During my tenure as deputy chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities — the NEA’s sister agency — during the George W. Bush administration, any action resembling this call would have triggered immediate dismissal. But saying things like the following was simply unfathomable: “This is just the beginning. This is the first telephone call of a brand new conversation. We are just now learning how to really bring this community together to speak with the government. What that looks like legally? . . . Bear with us as we learn the language so that we can speak to each other safely . . .” Yet this is precisely what an Obama NEA appointee told the arts leaders on this call.
