Who do you think is a better band?

Judas Priest for me.

I prefer old Judas Priest before they totally cheesed out in the 80's.

Judas Priest is the winner here simply because I think they have more range as a band and vocally. If you listen to their entire catalog, the variety is fairly impressive. I like Iron Maiden but almost all of their songs have a galloping rhythm -- you know a Maiden song when you hear it.

They are both bands for 14 year old peckerwoods.

Black Sabbath
Metallica
Megadeath
Motorhead

Black Sabbath is arguably better than Judas Priest.

Motorhead is very much like Iron Maiden. Megadeth is amazing when you consider it is basically one guy responsible for everything. Metallica is Metallica -- a post modern metal band.

I love Motorhead but their records are nothing at all like Iron Maiden. Motorhead is more badass speedy metal with fun lyrics, Iron Maiden wrote classic metal compositions with more serious lyrical content.

I meant all Motorhead songs sound similar. You know it when you hear it.

There are a handful of bands/players that defined the genre and created the style. Black Sabbath is one of them.

Zeppelin, Hendrix, Marley, Skynyrd....

Judas Priest.

Although iron maiden kicks major ass and those can play their asses off, no question.

To those that hate metal: fuck off and go to hell. You don't know shit. Was it difficult coming out as homosexuals? Seriously, though, to the real men, I have four strong words: Swedish fucking death metal. Check out Opeth (new album, playing fillmore@silver spring on the 30th), Katatonia. Or American, November's Doom. How about Alcest or Agalloch? Amon Amarth is cool...if you want all your songs to be about vikings. Mainstream metal is good, no doubt. I grew up in the '80s and 90s with it. But you really have to dig in the crates more and find some good stuff. Btw, 8f you like megadeath check out Nevermore (american) and sanctuary. If iron Maiden/Judah Priest is more your thing, I'd suggest Iced Earth, blind guardian, demons & wizards. There's so many! I'm not knocking the classic bands. I love them! But expand your horizons. I was saying the mainstream wasn't cool before it was cool. <~~~~total *metal* hipster

Best Priest album, Unleashed in the East (despite it not quite being completely live). I like Sad Wings as well but Unleashed sums up the early Priest sound.

As for 'new wave' melodic heavy metal, Sabaton et al, I have to be in the mood. It sounds a bit "over-produced". This is why I am not thrilled about some of Metallica's later work.

I believe there are a number of country/gay clubs you might be interested in. Use Google or try grindr, Mr obviouslyabottom

While talking about motorhead, I forgot to mention overkill, a former tribute band.
