I don't have any affiliation with either party, so can speak objectively, plus I have a degree in history. Despite what you were taught in history class, the United States, although played an integral role in the liberation of Western Europe did not single handedly save all of Europe from Hitler and the Nazi's. The Soviets suffered 45 million dead, most of their major population centers were laid waste and trillions of dollars in damages was done to it's infrastructure. The war has had a tremendously negative effect on Russia's demographics up to this day, with a major female:male ratio imbalance as one consequence of the conflict. The Soviets despite all this were able to break Nazi Germany's military might, and the Eastern front was the sole reason the U.S and the Allies were even able to open up fronts in both North Africa, Italy and then eventually Western Europe. The Germans committed 75% of it's military forces to the conflict against the Soviets.

The Germans knew they couldn't defeat America with conventional warfare. They hoped to take over Europe and establish a continent-wide Nazi state before we could ramp up and then bleed us playing defense while they killed off millions of undesirables until they developed the bomb.
Russia won like they always do and the way China stopped us in Korea. Commit massive amounts of troops and take massive casualties while they slow down any advance by throwing wave after wave of men and wait for winter.

If they waited for better weather, they would have easily overwhelmed the poorly equipped Russian army. Hitler simply needed to negotiate a treaty for a few months while they finished off Britain.

If we can get them working with us we have a powerful ally other than Britain and Israel. Europe is so weak spending all their money on social programs they can't even defend themselves.
