I'd be cool with it.
It's not the lifestyle I would choose for them, purely from the prejudice and hate that they would be subjected to. Of course I believe that you're born gay or straight and that's just the way it is.
The only thing I think I'd be uncomfortable with is if my son kissed another man in front of me. I don't need to see other men kissing - but I'd probably just deal with it.
By the way, my wife has a cousin who is gay and her family is as redneck and prejudiced as it gets, so if those people can accept a homosexual, everybody can/should.

I wouldn't give a shit at all and chances are, I would have known anyway by their behavior.
Why the fuck would anyone beat their kid over something like that? It's just the way things go sometimes.
I'd be far more upset if my kid told me he/she was into beastiality, found god or was in some gang.

I don't think being gay is a choice. I would accept it, deal with it and be supportive. I would also be very uncomfortable when "Steve" showed up at family gatherings.

I was friends with a gay guy in Janitor School that was surrounded by attractive women, all the time. He wasn't the most attractive guy, but women still offered to "straighten him out." He always declined.
