Aug. 17 (Bloomberg) -- At least eight people died and 54 were missing after an accident at Russia’s largest hydropower station halted electricity production and threatened aluminum output at United Co. Rusal and steelmaking at Evraz Group SA.

A “water surge” led to the flooding of the turbine room at the Sayano-Shushenskaya station, the plant’s state-run owner OAO RusHydro said. Three units at the plant in eastern Siberia were destroyed and another three damaged in the incident, which happened at about 8:15 a.m. local time today, the plant’s state- run owner OAO RusHydro said.

Unless there are glow-in-the dark sheep involved, I'm not interested in this kind of story.

It's like the "thumbs down" on Pandora, so you have a better idea of what I want to read about.

Ok - I will keep that in mind. See if I can come up with better stories for you in the future.

When I was thinking of posting this, my original intent was to show that even hydro power is dangerous.

I just found it interesting as a side note on the global warming/alternative energy discussion. I find that the best way for a post to die is to ignore it. Feel free.

But I will keep that in mind :)
