DOS attack brings down Twitter.

Ongoing denial-of-service attack 1 hour ago

We are defending against a denial-of-service attack, and will update status again shortly.

Update: the site is back up, but we are continuing to defend against and recover from this attack.

We are determining the cause and will provide an update shortly.

Facebook was having a lot of failures during the same time. It didn't completely go down, but it was semi-broken. Probably under attack also.

Long story short: Someone used a botnet to attack a Georgian that blogs on Twitter, Facebook, LiveJournal, Google Blogger and YouTube.

God forbid someday someone figures out how to jack computers directly into our brains to the point where we can share thoughts directly - it will be a never ending flood of BS.

the good news is that the level of technology required for such a thing is far away. however, the next step is speech-to-text on mobile devices, in which case we are screwed as well.
