The smoke monster is one of the weaker plot devices on Lost. I hate that stupid thing.

Unfortunately, I gave up on that show midway through season 3. It was too frustrating with all the bullshit and not enough (i.e. ANY) answers. My wife says it's back to kicking ass, but I won't be burned again. Did they EVER say what the numbers were for?

I think the show is great. This past season was really good too. Some of the lingering questions started to get answered, but the show is still one big mystery. Nothing at all about those numbers... my guess is it's some kind of mathematical sequence related to quantum physics, but who knows?

The other annoying plot device is the whole "Jacob" thing, but I think that might be clarified next season.
