Torture is illegal.

There is no such thing as enhanced interrogation.
There is interrogation.
There is torture.
U.S. and International law is quite clear on what these two terms mean.
There is no legal justification for torture under any circumstances - period.

Our laws and legal system are capable of handling any type of criminal.

Saying the laws of the United States do not apply to foreigners/enemy combatants is bullshit. Apply our laws and hold the fuckers accountable. Charge them. Convict them. Sentence them. If death penalty is appropriate - then kill them.

Projecting the laws and values of the United States around the globe has been part of our national security strategy since - forever.

Our Constitution is paramount and what we swear to defend and protect. Enabling anyone to throw the Constitution out the window just because is a treasonous slippery slope. The Constitution is America's most important weapon and our National Security depends on it.

OK, well if you mean after being waterboarded 83 times for no reason, that you have a pass to kill innocent people, yeah, you're right, that wouldn't give you the moral right to kill innocent people. On the other hand, I think it's possible, maybe probable, that after being waterboarded 83 times (for no reason) the victim would be so crazy, that he would be no longer responsible for terrorist acts that he might then carry out in "revenge". The moral responsibility for his crime of terrorism would have shifted to his torturer.

No, because the Americans not "insane" (at least in the clinical sense) if we bomb muslim civilians in retaliation. We're acting deliberately, and wrong morally, if we bomb innocents in retaliation. I was referring to someone being driven insane by torture.

Whether that actually happens in these situations, I don't know. I do know there's a place where the moral responsiblities of torturers and terrorists are merged in some sense, and they both are on in some sense in the same reprehensible place.
