Nonsensical Movie Lines
Date: July 24, 2009 09:24AM

Seriously, WTF did "I am the Matador" at the end of Fail Safe even mean? Or, "Love means never having to say you're sorry" from Love Story. Who came up with this shit?

Here's another one from Scent of a Woman...

"If I were the man I was five years ago, I'd take a flamethrower to this place!"

Truly, what the fuck was that supposed to mean?

I think it means he's now a gentler man than the Charles Bronson-like person he once was. A strange way to make that point, though.

But how would that even have been relevant to what he was talking about? I have a feeling it was a line that was ad-libbed by Pacino in his bid to win an Oscar.

From Glen Or Glenda, quite possibly the worst movie ever made:

The world is a strange place to live in. All those cars. All going someplace. All carrying humans, which are carrying out their lives.

"Get busy living, or get busy dying."

Yes, I really liked The Shawshank Redemption, too, but do you really get busy dying when you don't get busy living? Isn't dying kind of the default setting? I wouldn't describe people who are sitting around waiting to die as "getting busy."

We were up at "the top of the world" and we saw this shooting star and we decided to go look for it. But instead of finding the shooting star we saw this... this circus tent. And that's when we went inside, and that is when we saw those people in those... those pink, cotton candy cocoons. Dave, it was not a circus tent. It was something else.

The one movie line I never understood was from the Wizard of Oz.
After she melted the witch, she asked one of the guards if she could have her broom. He said "yes, and take it with you".
WTF, did he think she wanted to keep it but had to leave it.

Another thing I don't get about that movie is that Glinda the Good Witch tells her at the end that she had the power to go home all the time. WTF? That fucking bitch was holding out the whole time???

The good thing about The Wizard of Oz is watching it with the sound off and listening to Dark Side Of The Moon

Mooney: "I ought to shoot you right now, you red-nosed Freak!"

A few years ago, I edited that into "Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer", after "Santa came to say..."
People were not amused.

+1

Stupid line from a stupid movie. Frank Capra is dead. Steve McQueen and Martin Scorsese killed him.
