Obama's "Open Government" Hiding Budget Info

Obama, on his first day in office, issued executive orders regarding treatment of lobbyists. In those orders, he says “My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government." Yet today we learn that Obama has delayed his mid-year budget snapshot until after he hopes Congress has given him his health care reform bill.

In a "new" open government, what exactly is he hiding from Congress and the American people that he doesn't want us to know until AFTER a massively expensive health bill is passed?

If the excuse for bad numbers is "we didn't have enough information" (after having their top team of economists advising him, of course) then why aren't they using their "new" information to shape spending policies now?

Welcome to the change!

Whatever. But I saw this today:

RASMUSSEN 2012 poll released at 10:30AM ET

Obama 45% Romney 45%
Obama 48% Palin 42%

The first one I can almost believe. The second just can't be right... they found that 42% of people thought Palin was a suitable replacement for Obama? WTF?

Honestly - Obama and his Whitehouse picks have not been that impressive. The teleprompter thing is probably floating around in the background of that as well - like "if he isn't scripted, does he still function at a level higher than Palin?" kind of question. Look at Hillary and this trip to India - they almost had a meltdown just talking about emission cutbacks. Cap and trade may end up being one of the biggest fiascoes - add on the healthcare issues and he is piling up huge negatives. Those people look at Palin and while she may be dumber than a rock on some issues, she has been behind pushing an agenda on energy that makes more sense than anything coming out of Congress or the administration at this point, so yeah, she is probably getting some points for that.

Speaking of melt downs, here is the police report on the arrest of Henry Gates.

Maybe if he had just said "Sure, here is my ID - I can understand why you might be concerned when someone calls in that two men are forcing open the door of a home you would be careful", and hand him his ID. Of course, we haven't heard anything from Gates except that he wants an apology from the officer, and that he might sue.
